Does anyone use the 150 gr loads? I have a bunch of factory 200 gr Silvertips and Hornady and Barnes bullets in 200 gr and heavier but have never tried the 150s and were just wondering how they work on deer

I don't, only load 250gr Barnes, ABW Kodiaks, but will load 250gr Woodleighs when those are gone, I did see 3 or 4 boxes of 150gr 348 bullets at a local SGS the other day, had to look twice, didn't know they made those, don't remember who made them, but they are in green boxes, so going with Sierra or old Speer, I do have the phone number if you want to call and buy them.

I never have, but I'd guess the 150s would be decent for whitetail. From reading, it seems 150s just didn't sell enough in "the olden days" to make it worthwhile for the ammo companies.

Seems I remember reading an article many years ago that the 150 grain loads were brought out to advertise the .348 had similar ballistics as the '06............150 grain at 2900 fps or so. Of course they don't have the shape and diameter to keep up after 100 yds but I'm sure they'd put the smack down on any deer within range of the Model 71s sights.

Thanks for the offer. I have so many 200 grain and up that I got a great deal on when I got the rifle I probably won’t ever need any bullets

The 150 gr loading by W-W was discontinued because hunters quickly found out it lacked sectional density. In addition to the 150-200-250 offerings, Peters made and inner belted 210 gr bullet
and offered it in the late 40s-50s. Rare box of 348 WCF.

200-225-250 would have been good weights. I have some Hawk 225s.
