A good idea came to me a couple of days ago. Those bullets would come in handy.

No casting done lately. Hopefully next week after I'm out of the hospital. Got a couple new molds and some new guns waiting to be fed.

They should let you cast while in recovery.

Pot has been hot enough to pour around 70-80 lbs of lead. NOE 311-165rf, Accurate 38-250B, Lee 452-230TC, and Lee 452-255rf

Not lately. I try to do enough casting after hunting season is over to shoot all year. Think late Winter and early Spring. But I will cast in the Summer if I have to.

It's been a while but, by lunch I'll have converted some wheelweights into bullets. I'm getting everything ready to cast up some RCBS 35-200 FN.

It's been a few weeks. Thanks for the reminder! I have just started using a bottom pour Lyman that I picked up at an estate sale. Had been using ladle/hand pour for several years. I could get used to the higher production of this bottom pour.

Got up early this morning and ran some more cast for the 38-357 and some for the 40 S&W.

Made it thru about 40 lbs of mix and by 1:00 i was tired.

Got to like them 4 hole molds.

Good on ya!

My plan got rained out and the tinsel fairy cried from frustration. Wet all day, getting breezy. Eta sux, or blows. Depends on which way you’re lookin’.

It's just about casting season in my neck of the woods. I have a new mold for .45LC and it hasn't been heated yet...but soon it will!

After reading this thread I think I'm gonna warm up the old girl tomorrow. I just picked up an old Ideal 31141 that I wanna try out, and my 25-20 lead supply is getting low.

If I think about it I'll snap some photos to post.

Nope - don't own one yet but doing the research now. Need 480 Ruger fodder as bullet choices seem to be limited and I can't imagine much walking away from a good wide hard cast bullet in that particular revolver.

5.5 hours to cast, coat and size 1031 125 9mm’s the other day.

Cast up a bunch of 210 .41 Keith bullets as well. Sized and lubed a few of those instead of coating. I like both traditionally lubed and powder coated.

I cast a couple hundred Lyman 457122. I like to coat and size them to .454 for my 45 Colt Handi rifle. At 1300fps that bullet is a killer.

Thanks, Dinny

Ran 15-20 pounds of of the RCBS 325 grain 45-70 and 15 of the 358429 Group buy from theold AR GB days.

Have been shooting the RCBS .459s, but have yet to S&L the 358429s.

Well went to load the other day and NO 45 195s so I had to run 15-20 # of that Projie.
Now I have to size the 35 and 45s.
Maybe time to do an inventory and see what I need.

Cool in the casting space so I will have to warm the projies and sizer.

Been on the cool side here but ran off a batch thru my RCBS 45 cal. 405 gr with GC. Got to keep bullets on hand for my 45-70. A couple days ago did a bunch of .401 175gr for the 40 S&W. Also did a few thru the Saeco & LBT molds for the 38-55. Other than that nothing much.

I melted down about 5 5 gallon buckets of ww this weekend. Compared to my last batch of ww smelted 15 years ago- well- times they are a changin'! Used to I have about 30% waste out of a 5 gallon bucket. Now I am only getting about 30% return. Glad these were given to me otherwise they would not have been a good deal.

Out of the return I made 2 different batches of 50/50 ww/Pb for general use with some tin solder thrown in. I also made a 40 lb ww/25 lb batch of tin sweetened alloy for HP rifle.

Glad that task is over so I can get down to business
