Not for backpacking...weight not a big concern.

What is/where to get the best most durable air mattress for under a sleeping bag for camping.

Thank you kindly in advance.

I have 2 that I really like a Cabela's self inflating insulated pad and a klymit static V insulated. Of the ,2 I prefer the klymit. But just by a margin

klymit static V Luxe insulated. Most comfortable I have ever slept on.

if weight is not a problem take a portable cot and a egg foam mat for under your sleeping bag. air mattresses all suck

Air mattresses DO all suck. The air cools, shrinks, the bed sags, and you're touching the cold ground before you know it.

I have something like this https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/cabelas-3-cot-pad though I think it is 78" x 30" x 3". Works WELL for car camping.

Any open cell foam sucks worse than air mattresses. In cold weather, your body moisture soaks into the foam thru your sleeping bag. Each day when you are out hunting it freezes. In 3-4 days you are sleeping on ice

Before my camper, I used an air bed on a twin bed frame with a piece of OSB and slats. Secret was to keep a heavy blanket between the sleeping bag and air bed and make sure to turn your bag back every morning so the blanket can dry

Any air mattress needs to be topped off a few times after the warm air in it cools

since weight is not an issue i assume your talking car camping, state park camping. go to walmart and get a coleman inflatable bed. get the batter powered inflater while your at it. We used our queen size one after one of this years hurricanes and couldnt have been happier.

Temps? In summer I like the ten dollar model from walmart. They last a while and keep you cooler.

Air beds have no R rating and the air conducts ground temp to your body through the compressed sleeping bag.

If you do use an inflatable bed, ensure you have something as a thermal barrier between the ground and you.

I always put a heavy blanket between the air bed and my bag. I went to Goodwill and bought a $20 single bed frame, cut a few slats for it and put a piece of OSB in top of them. Just like home

We bought a couple of these Exped Megamats a while back. Very comfortable on a cot, and good thermal layer.

I found them on sale for $149 at the time.

For camping where weight is not an issue I have the Klymit Static V Luxe and place it on top of a GI closed cell pad for insulation. That GI pad is very versatile and is all I use with a sleeping bag when back packing. Got it at a Army/Navy store.
