I’m looking for a scope that I can learn dialing with to go on a recently purchased Tikka T3x in .223. 500 yards maximum shots. I just want to learn the art of dialing, my hunting scenario will never exceed 500. I use the same rifle in .270 for big game but like the low recoil and cheaper cost of .223 to practice.
Thanks

Thanks Fotis. My concern is that at 63 years old is 9 power enough for 500 yards. Is the glass clear.
I’ve certainly heard good things about dialing and repeatability about SWFA

Swfa 3-15 then. The 3-9 is what’s on my t3 223.

The glass is actually pretty decent on the 3x9 SWFA. Got a couple and they work great. Put a 10x on the 223 I picked up last summer. Works fine for what I use it for.

Whatever SWFA model works for you, Nightforce SHV 3-10x is my favorite mid-range scope for that.

Some of the Athlons seem to be reported OK, but I have not tried any myself. Some are modestly priced enough that it's worth a try.

Thanks folks. Most of y’all’s experience far exceeds mine so I’m greatful for the input . I’m thinking just a simple cross hair or dot reticle that I can dial beyond 300 if that makes since

Learn to use the SWFA MQ and you won't be sorry. The SS 10x is a great scope for learning and practicing like you mention.

A cross hair or dot will work, but the MQ (or measured FFP reticle) will work better. A reticle that matches the adjustments of the scope helps you measure misses and adjust. It's hard to beat the MQ reticle for that use.

Having just mounted one of these on a very accurate .223 of my own, I have to agree. My plan is to start playing with 70-grain RDFs and stretch it out a bit. I found centering a one-inch dot at 200 yards to be easy-peasy. Longer ranges will be far more challenging, but the optic and the rifle won't be the limitation assuming I can make the bullet work.

Teeker OEM 223 mags, suck copious ass(Fhuqk Show). So do RDF's. Hint.

6x MQ here,if only as per always, mainly because nothing else is nearly as forgiving. Hint.

I'd want a 40MOA Mount' Tac' 1913(20 MOA gonna be pictured, because they hadn't invented to the 40 yet). Swiffer Low's are never a poor choice(GG&G's coming up). AICS DBM has no equal and a glaring Teeker bane(Mount' Tac'). Hint.
