Momma usually makes it, but if suffered to use store bought, pass the sweet baby Ray’s

Amazingly a brand from my childhood survives and still being produced by original family.

Get you a bottle of Stubs original.

Drink 1/3 of it.

Replace consumed content with cider vinegar. Shake and serve at room temp.

There are so many good commercial sauces and rubs now that sometimes it'd tough for me to pick just one or two. A few of my favorites are....

Slap's BBQ - ribs, pork

Blue's Hog - chicken, vanilla ice cream (not kidding)

Kosmo's OP X-1 - brisket

Clark Crew Original - brisket, ribs

Baby Huey's Sweet Fire - ribs, pork

There are many others, but these are the one's that stand out.

Know fat, know flavor. No fat, no flavor.

I tried going vegan, but then realized it was a big missed steak.

Homemade is best...

If not, Baby Ray's is best IMO...

Stubb’s original, all day and twice on Sunday
Famous Dave’s rub is damn good on chicken and pork though.
Uncle used to make some using open pit as a base but would never share the recipe. It was unreal.

I use the "Thrill or the Grill" recipe as a base and add other ingredients depending on what I am grilling. I will usually make a couple of quarts and with the vinegar it will keep a long time in the fridge. When I add meat juices it is made in smaller batches that will be used up in a week or so.

Saute the onions and then all of the other ingredients can be added. Don't add too much molasses the vinegar flavor gets absorbed by the other ingredients.

Glad to see the votes for Stubbs, I was raised on BBQ from there.

The other day, there was a Cookie's van in the lot of our local groc. When I went in, there was a lady in a Cookie's jacket restocking the shelves. I mentioned that she sure didn't look like Speed. She thanked me very emphatically.

I bought both a 67 Mustang, and a 3/4 ton pickup from Speed when he was selling Fords in Sac City.
