I used to like raspberry jam until I made some Damsons Plum jam the year. That stuff is good!

The problem with anything raspberry is finding enough extra seeds to add in to really put it over the top.

Jams and Jellies is an index reference in the old Dungeons and Dragons Monster Manual.

And you would know that how?

I played in college, and I do remember there was a category very much like that. One was called a gelatinous cube. There were others, too.

Here's a gelatinous cube attacking a warrior.

Once met a nice couple on an ocean cruise. During introductions they said, "Hi! We're Jan and Jerry but just call us Jam and Jelly.
Everybody back home calls us that 'cause it's easier."

Very interesting.

We make lots of jelly/jam out of wild sand plums and wild blackberries. Sadly this year we had a freak snow in April that pretty much wrecked all of our fruits and berries.

My Great Granny moved to Oklahoma in a covered wagon. I’m sure she started making sand plum jam simply due to them being available and free. She made a big batch every year until she was almost 90. Her daughter, my Grandmother, carried on the tradition and taught me when I was a sprout and would stay with her during the summer.

When we moved down from Alaska I informed my bride that job one for her was to apprentice to Grandmom and learn two things, making plum jelly and peach cobblers. I’m proud to say that she was a quick study and makes a pretty good hand at both, right down to battling chiggers and ticks in the thickets while gathering sand plums.

If you don’t like the seeds, go with jelly. Me, I like the seeds!
