I have a SiCo harvester that I shoot on a 243, and will soon shoot on a 7mmRem Mag, once I swap in the new XCaliber barrel.

However, I have for a long time been thinking about both a 22LR and another suppressor for an AR15 host.

I know next to nothing about 22LR suppressors, and very little about the AR15 ones.

Not planning on doing rapid fire/magazine dumps, so full auto not needed, but something that will allow more shots than the slow rate of fire for the Harvester.

The AR15 is going to be used mainly on hogs at night, and very little for fun during days.

The 22 will be on a Ruger SR22 mainly, and when I get a threaded 22 rifle would move to it (RAR? Savage?).

Have a lovely CZ452, but want to keep it stock, though would be an ideal host,

So, fire away with recs and advice on suppressors for 22 and 223 please

There are tons of options currently and a few years back I had the same decisions to make. I ended up watching tons of youtube videos where guys shoot suppresssed guns next to a dB meter and compare different brands and models. I went with a SilencerCo Omega as a multi purpose centerfire can that can be swapped between AR's, hunting rifles, and long range bolt actions. For that purpose I have been extremely pleased and it's sound performance in relation to it's size and weight are outstanding. For the rimfire can I went with a Dead Air Mask HD. Again, the sound performance and it being rated for 17 and 22mag made it a top choice. The only can that came close to performance was the newer Thunderbeast rimfire and it wasn't available yet.

Whatever you buy, do lots of research. There are lots of good options out there, buy the best you can.

I have a dead air mask that I love. Friend has a sparrow and a thunderbeast. I can’t tell any difference in noise between the mask and thunderbeast. Both are very quiet with great tone. Sparrow is a little louder, but it’s not enough to make some kind of practical difference In my opinion

Have the silencerco omega. Very happy with it.
Dead air sandman Ti also very happy with it
Sandman S is a what I run on the AR15

Go to a dealer and handle/shoot as many as you can.

My dealer had both a Sparrow and Dead Air Mask in stock. I chose the Sparrow as I couldn't confirm easily, if the Dead Air Mask was compatible with a .22 Hornet at that time. The Sparrow is so that was my decision maker as it will see some use on a Hornet. If it was only a .22 Mag or less option for you, pick between those and the TBAC. All are good choices.

"Reviews" state the Dead Air and TBAC have less first pop than the Sparrow but I'm not sure if that will have an impact on my use.

I have several of the bowers USS cans and they are 22lr ,5.7 etc. I really like them and they have a lifetime warranty , plus Tom the owner and his wife are great people.

I have 2 Dead Air Mask HD's and a Gemtech GM22. I use the Masks on rifles and the GM22 on pistols, as it is very lightweight.

If I were in the market now, I'd be looking at the ThunderBeast or Mask HD.

Any of yall have experience with the silencerco switchback? Thats what I went with, just waiting, my lgs said that was the closest silencerco 22 to a dead air masks no first round pop. It was there, i had been wanting something, they had the kiosk and we were done in 15 minutes.

Give a look to our super compact and lightweight cans.

Wyoming Arms Suppressors

The 5 Squared Ti on an AR platform will meter at the shooters ear with or better than most big cans but be a fraction of the weight and length.

It's easy to take apart and clean so you can use it on Rimfires.

The 5 Squared AL is even lighter but only for rimfire.

John Burns,

What’s the diameter of those cans? Looks like y’all didn’t sacrifice internal volume, just made up for length with girth. I’ve had a problem on a few hunting rifles with suppressor shadows at the bottom of my scope. Typically with larger diameter cans or when using a wrap.

What problem does a 'shadow' cause? Other than to your brain?
