I'm adding another bench, 3rd purpose built bench in 45yrs. I like the socket arraignment so I can move tools or put in blanks for a smooth bench top.
Still have a ways to go just thought I'd show another way to handle bench tops when You have a bunch of tools.











Yes, I'm no carpenter or furniture maker.

As long as nothing flexes when you're
pulling a press handle, looks don't matter
at all. My benches won't win any prizes
for pretty, but you could stand on the
press handle

That socket arraignment is very cool!

Decided to try white paint thinking it might help with the lighting situation. Might be a mistake but I hate Formica. The only plywood the big box store had on hand that was somewhat slick was primed so I just decided to try flat white paint I had on hand.
Its solid, 2 layers of 3/4 plywood glued and screwed don't give much.
After I'm done messing around with paint I'll add a shelf under and a sheet of underlayment or paneling to the back side.
Its amazing how much time you can pizz away on something like this when you don't know chit about wood working or own decent tools either.
