I live in an area where the regional chains have moved in, bought out the locals, and now prices are through the roof.
Runnings, Bomgaars, Tractor Supply, and 60 miles away to a Fleet Farm.
Runnings bought out a two store local and then Campbell's Supply, a five store or so operation, which had the best sprayer parts and pumps in the area.

Big R,Tractor Supply. Murdocks is not close.I prefer Tractor Supply. Little cheaper than Big R.Their DEF fluid moves faster so it is not on the shelf for 1/2 it's shelf life .Some of their livestock feed beats Big R by about $4/100. Three local Big R's here are noted for advertising items on sale that are never in stock or what they show in the photograph is not the same as items on sale.

Richard, has Fleet moved into the area?

Tractor Supply and Atwoods are the big one's around here. Was a Co-op here for years, but it closed. Never did know why.

Wish we had TSC here. Feed comes from Kenai feed 😏 Don’t have an implement place. Several hdwe stores but not always what I’m looking for. Kenai feed is good about getting items shipped at reasonable shipping costs as the shipping is what kills us. Things come up only monthly on the barge. If you miss the ship date, it’ll be another 6-8 weeks. It sure sucks to live here!

Our Producer's Coop has about all you need.
They also know the needs of the agriculture community here.

United Farmer's Coop has a pretty good store here in town.
Bomgaar's bought out the Creston Farm & Home store a couple years ago and they closed the Mount Ayr branch store. I miss the store because I knew what they had and where everything was! Plus the good friends that ran the store!
There's a TSC in Creston too.

Big R and Tractor Supply are the biggest, but I frequent IFA as well. There is a decent local COOP not too far away, too.

Around here it was mostly TSC or Rural King, then the Mennonite owned one opened up just about a mile and half from me, and now I use them almost exclusively. They have most of what I need that's farm related, at a fair price, good selection, and good service. They sell equipment, and have a very good repair shop.
I still go to TSC and Rural King, as they carry certain things that the Farm Center does not. But, I can jump in my UTV, take the back road, and be at the Mennonite store in less than 5 minutes, so I can buy what I need, and be back home before I could even get to another store.

Tractor supply, Cal Ranch, Bomgaars and IFA, in reverse order of preference. The first three have become way laid into yuppie 3 acre ranchlet supply stores. Walk into them asking for hardware cloth or stock salt and get blank stares.... None of them carry decent quality hand tools or consumables. Bomgaars has put a big hurt on IFA, unfortunately.

We don't have any of the weekend warrior type hobby farm stores around here. I guess the hardware store carries some 'ag' stuff. Buy little stuff like electric fence chargers from them. We get all of our vaccine, back pour, salt, mineral, stock tanks, bulk feed, etc., from a local co-op elevator. Young guy is the manager and he is really good. Get back close to $5k(?) in dividends. He even helps us find things they don't sell. Hauled up a load of 60 continuous fence panels for us from a wholesaler. Just priced out a pallet of steel T-posts on Friday.

They were cheaper, the galvanizing is poor on most of them. We need to use the rest of them. A sorting/corral area. I LIKE climbable fence when the cattle play rough!

Farm Bureau, and a family owned feed store or two. Got a Tractor Supply, but like Sam said, Weekend Warrior store. I rarely see any real farmer's in there.

All we have is orchlins they suck We do have an independent farm store that's really good... Kinda fond of Orschelns... Nearest is 90 miles away, but I get in there time to time. When I used to work around Kansas City I went there a bunch. Locally the closest is Blaines Farm and Fleet. Used to be great.25 miles away we got a BigR and they're mostly like F&F with better sporting goods. Within 60 miles we got Farm King and Rural King. Love to have either one closer...

In Davenport, Dewitt, and Anamosa Iowa they got Theisen's. Don't get in there as much as some but i like the stores. Almost reminds me of what F&F used to be

The outside of Bomgaars sure looks nice and clean. Our Tractor Supply has a pretty good inventory but they don't know what a broom was made for.

Atwood’s and Orschelns, plus Tractor Supply for chain stuff.
Have a local mom and pop operation with 3 stores, Race Brothers, they’re my favorite.

Tractor Supply and Blains Farm and Fleet. BFF went up right across the highway from TS and is killing them. Almost exclusively weekend warrior types around here.

We use to have a coop about 20 miles from me. Some young guy bought them out and never paid his bills so it was foreclosed. Now the closest Coop is 75miles away. A good implement / tractor dealer is about 60 miles. Since I retired and don't need big volumes or heavy use stuff, I guess I have become one of those weekend warriors too. Big R or Tractor Supply is 12 miles away.
