Hey all,

So, I inherited my dad’s custom built 3006 that was made in the 1960s on an unknown Mauser action. Some time in the past, before I got it someone took the sling off of it. When the did, they also took the rings that the sling installed with. Regular sling swivels don’t work. I am going to need to get the oblong rings and mount them back on the rifle. Then feed the sling through the oblong ring.

So, any ideas on where to find these rings and the best way to mount them. I am assuming they need to be no welded.

Thanks,

DR

Can you replace the studs with ones that QD swivels will go on?

No, I hope I could but the “bases” are actually recessed into the wood of the stock.

I looked in my sling drawer and found 1 that looks somewhat like that. However You may be able to bend a ring to fit that.

I will wait your email pictures tomorrow.
