That is how you used to get a job in law enforcement. My step grandfather learned to box in the Navy just after WWI. In 1938 he was hired by the local P.D. because he could fight his way in and fight his way out with a prisoner (defendant) He didn't need verbal judo. Just a sap and set of handcuffs.
