Thanks for the link. I hunted in 2D yesterday. I heard 6 shots close, but i haven't heard anything about bears being taken. The map on the link reflects that.

That's a lot of bears for 1 day. The annual harvest here in Idaho is at least 4x that but that includes fall and spring seasons and both hound and bait hunting. They sure don't get them in 1 day.

The PGC listed three hunting Sunday’s for 2020.
- Nov. 15 Deer Archery
- Nov. 22 Bear
- Nov. 29 Deer Firearms
First year that hunting has ever been permitted on Sundays.

The kids and I were in the ANF yesterday. Had a great time, but saw nothing but some fresh poop.

We no longer have a "camp" to stay at, so that is the only day we can hunt.

Would love to buy one of my own, if I could find one.

I would think there would be a lot of them for sale, since the game commission decided to kill off all the deer up there. I didn't go to potter county this year. It seems like the woods up there are sterile.

We average around 3000 bears/year for the state. Our estimated population is 20-22k bears

Hunted 2D, too.

We didn't see a single track or pile of poop...........or a grouse, either (6-7 years running). Heard very little shooting.........even at a distance.

Idaho's harvest was about 2500 in '18, the last year they have posted.

Congrats on the bear. I've never shot one although I haven't really tried.

View Pa 's bear harvest for Day 1 and Day 2 statewide rifle bear harvest above in the link, as well as all previous harvest from the 2020 season for bear. This link will be updated daily, just hit the refresh key to see updated numbers.

Potter county seems to be the leader this season. Potter Tioga Lycoming and Clinton are the top leader in bear harvests this season.

Look at the weights of the top 10 bears in the above link... all over 567 # estimated live weights. 719# is the largest weight this season !!!

Two more days of bear hunting guys.... Nov 23 and 24. Also with "several select units" available for bear hunting during the rifle buck hunt beginning Monday Nov 30-Dec 5th.
**** Note... Bear cannot be hunted on Nov 28 and Nov 29 Sat & Sunday...the 1st and 2nd day of Pa rifle buck season
Below is a link for all of Pa hunting seasons for clarity:

Not exactly correct about Sundays, we have been able to hunt coyotes, foxes and crows on Sundays for years. But the folks that were pushing Sunday hunting always seemed to forget to mention that. Go figure...

No it isn't. We used to do 1,500+ the first day. But now they keep adding primitive weapon seasons and they've already killed 2,000 last month

Rock Chuck and 24 hour campfire members: Above is a link to read a long article on the largest bear kill in Pa in 2019, of 4,653 bears
.
The 2nd largest bear kill was in 2011 of 4,350. The 2020 season may break the 2019 record due to longer seasons for archery, and opportunity for muzzleloaders and a early special rifle season for youth and over 65 hunters for hunting bears in Pa . Please read the above article in the link. Pa estimated bear population is around 20,000 bears this fall. HH
