It’s not an annual tax. It simply makes semi-autos and magazines NFA items and subjects them to the $200 tax that has been in place since the 1930s. Doesn’t make it better, but that is what it is.
One more nuance, assuming the proposal is simply to add high capacity mags and S/A weapons to the NFA, those in possession would have to registered under the NFA, but as I understand it (and I could be wrong) is that weapons in possession prior to the effective date of the change are not taxed at all. Only weapons made or purchased or transferred outside of an estate at death thereafter are taxed. For example: d) Firearms registered on effective date of this act. A person shown as possessing a firearm by the records maintained by the Secretary pursuant to the National Firearms Act in force on the day immediately prior to the effective date of the National Firearms Act of 1968 shall be considered to have registered under this section the firearms in his possession which are disclosed by that record as being in his possession. The odds of the senate allowing this amendment to the NFA is microscopic.

Do not forget that Roberts could be the deciding vote! That is quite confidence inspiring.

First time he tries it - it'll be litigated out of existence... WHEN, ( not if) it gets to the SCOTUS, they'll shove it right down his throat.. . I’m thinking that’s what will happen.

A Fudd's perspective on gun control. How interesting lmao It’s not an annual tax. It simply makes semi-autos and magazines NFA items and subjects them to the $200 tax that has been in place since the 1930s. Doesn’t make it better, but that is what it is.

You do not understand how a communist country works. The democrats will be elected from now on until the communist government takes their jobs as well. Conservative will be removed from power one way or another. The republic is done if the democrats get into power.

I get the feeling that it’s 575 AD and we’re a bunch of upper class Romans talking about how the Roman Senate is going to get some good things done and save us yet. Sure, we’ve had some ups and downs. Sure, we’ve had to work with some barbarian kings and an invasion from the Eastern Roman Empire. But we’re still here and the Senate still meets. We’re going to get things done and it will all get better. Just wait, you’ll see. Did you mean 475 AD ? Nope. I mean 575. The Senate still met until at least 603 AD that we know for sure. Silly Romans didn’t realize that the empire had fallen in 476 just like so many of you on this board don’t realize that things have changed now.

If a Republican majority in the Senate is a priority, then why so little mention of John James having his race stolen from him by Gary Peters.

The late gunsmith Randy Ketchum went to trial for making washers for a wired customer with a copy of a Paladin Press suppressor drawing in the 1980s. Randy used the public defender. The AFF spent over $1M. The jury was out for 5 minutes and came back with not guilty.
This is why firearm violations are often negotiated away for other charges. If there are no other charges, the chances of getting a firearm conviction [alone] are slim.

Fortunately with the amount of guns and gun owners in this country, an overthrow of the government would be far more likely than enduring 4 years of his BS.

This could be the perfect time to break the NRA. They have always been anti gun anyways
