Anyone have experience with one of these? I saw a nice one that is a older model carbine. Seller wants 500 for it. Any thoughts?

Had one years back. Decent shooter for cans and stuff, roughly as accurate as a run of the mill 10-22.
Naturally, it was fun to shoot. Trigger was either worn or someone had "improved" it.
Traded it towards something, never regretted it.

And yeah, $500 is too much IMO. There are better pumps out there for less money.

My son still has one I bought quite a few years ago. Accurate enough, he likes it. Pretty decent little rifle all in all, but not a $500 rifle in my opinion.

I bought it second hand and the shop owner where I bought it had to have the trigger put back original before he would sell it as the previous owner had 'gee-whiz' modified it so it could be rapid fired by holding the trigger back and pumping it.

too much, local gun shop recently had one, it was under that new. You could probably find a win for that or not much more

I paid $305 for a minty Rossi 62 rifle in 2018.

A Rossi 59, the .22 MAG version, might bring $500, but not a 62.

I've owned 3 or 4 of th4e Rossi 62s and think that they are OK, but none of the ones that I've owned have had actions that cycled nearly as smooth as the Winchester 1906s and 62s that I've owned.

I have had one for years, to use instead of the original 62 Winchester I inherited from my father.

Ive shot and carried the heck out of that Rossi 62. I cant imagine a better rifle for plinking. Accuracy is minute of soda can and like most .22's, some brands shot better than others. Mine digests everything, but shoots best with CCI Mini Mags.

By the way, the trigger isnt broken or altered when you can hold the trigger back and pump the slide and on each pump of the slide, the rifle fires. They are designed that way, as a copy of the original Winchester 62. My original operates the same way. You can really pump those rounds out in that manner, and when pointed in a safe direction, it is really fun.

If it’s a really nice one and un-futzed with, I wouldn’t let a somewhat high price put me off. That applies to anything I want, actually. The real question is, is it something you really want, or just a sudden itch that will soon pass?

I liked the takedownability of these, also the disconnect fire( hold trigger and pump the slide) for fun. In Australia one in decent condition runs about $650AUD. 500USD given your stronger dollar and market does sound high

I have a 62 SAC and I love it. It's my go to gun for treks into the woods. I have model 90's, 06's and 62's, but they are in collectible condition and I would not want to risk damaging them.

I like the Winchester 270 and 275 pump guns better than the Rossi or Taurus copies.

So I'm a SUCKER for pump action .22's.

[Linked Image]

My very first .22 was the 1890 on top. Below that is an actual gallery gun from the depression era "5 Spot" shooting gallery. Below that is a Rossi 62 that I bought for my son as his first .22; it's a wonderful little rifle. And rounding it all out at the bottom is my model 61 which is the rifle I tend to grab whenever I need a .22 these days.

If you can believe it, they’re even uglier in person.
