I'm guessing that the doorways in the Lodge for Elk needs to be taller and the ones in the Lodge for Moose need to be wider in order to accommodate antler design.

We also had an Eagles Club where I lived growing up
They were raided about once a year for selling alcohol without a license. Seemed like a pretty good juke joint
I never knew the difference in any of them either.
have you paid your dues, can you moan the blues, can you bend them guitar strings

Our Moose is just a bar/restaurant type place. I think. They must be hurting, they advertise on the radio about event and specials. Call it The Bedford Moose Family Fun Center. That's all new.
The Elks is a Country Club type of thing. Pool, golf course, bowling alley. Open to public or members. Only thing not open to public, that I know of, is the bar above the bowling alley.
Not my cup of toy, I'm not a bar sitter, not real social. These places used to be for the "elite". Bet I wouldn't have any trouble getting a membership, now. But I don't want to.
Have pondered an associate membership at The American Legion, Just to be able to eat there. But, haven't perused it. We probably wouldn't actually go there.

I'm a Moose member, joined years ago to be able to use the hunt club attached to it at the local club. Hunt club part has dissapeared but I've kept my membership going. Moose has an orphanage, MoseHeart, which I contribute to and a couple senior communities too. Don't know about Elks, other than their Friday night fish dinners, lol, but Moose has some pretty good civics stuff going on. Most of these civics clubs are hurting right now, people just don't join them anymore or get involved with them.

They are fraternal organizations, not just a club to gather and eat and drink. Both are involved in many civic and charitable programs.

All I've ever heard about either is: a place to eat, a place to drink, and a place to park your RV.

The Moose and Lions died several years ago and the Elks are limping along. Eagles are still active.
VFW and Foreign Legion are hit hard with covid restrictions, but they'll survive.

Eagles club always had cheap drinks with a STRONG pour. I havenβt been in one for years, in fact I think the last time I went to the Eagles club it was in Riverside up in the Omak-Okanogan with my wife years ago. We walked out feeling good and drove up to a small lake to catch a type of trout that was only found in a couple lakes statewide. As we were headed through one pasture we came across a cow in distress giving birth. We helped her and watched for awhile to make sure momma and calf were ok then we went on up to the lake. We caught a load of fish but released them all. Iβll keep trout if weβre having a beach lunch but they get released otherwise.
My dad was big in the Elks Club and enjoyed it but he got too busy working to support his 5 children. He switched drinking holes to Goldies since he didnβt need the politics anymore, just the beer. I drank there a lot with him but like all good things it was torn down to make way for progress.

Gotta add this for what it's worth.
The Elks (local, no idea of others) was Whites Only up into the 90's.
There are few blacks here, one was a co worker,
A good guy, active in coaching many sports for decades, he is well known.
He stopped in the Elks one day to pay a friend a small debt. Saw the guys car and figured he would pop in and out. However you get in, he told them he needed to talk to "Joe". The door person knew him and had no issue. Well, they got to BS'ing and the manager (who he knew) came in, saw him and went nuts.
Lots of racial stuff, how those people don't belong here, denied him the right to breath the air. So, he left.
That roared through this small town. A couple years later the manager left, and several people tried to get him to join. But, the people that embraced that policy forever were still there. He won't even bowl there, and it's the only option for 30 miles.
I'm not opposed to segregated private clubs in theory. But not here. We are 98% white.
They have a selection process, and only admit people of a good reputation and stature. Race doesn't need to be considered.
