I have been trying to switch over from my old, beautiful, incandescent C9 lights to the damned LED ones. Naturally, I have a 100-string of the worthless pieces of tschit where the first 50 don't light, but the second 50 do.

Haven't had any issues in 8 yrs. or so since I 1st changed over. Also, less load with more lights. I like them, but still like incandescents for frost protection of bushes/plants.

Schit like this keeps me up at night also....
Along with solving the riddle of cold fusion, I've been working on a toaster sized proyotype for years. I do have the LED on and off light issue solved on the prototype.
Gunga Galunga so far LED wise....

That’s funny. Wife was ranting the other day about her LED lights. Seems like she buys new ones every year.
Yup.

Years ago I bought LED lights.
Got them all hooked and dimmer than chit, uber lame.
So upset we didn't bother putting up lights for years...
Neighbors got to talking, rumor went around town that we'd lost the faith........
Last year I spent about $500 on the old school C9's. Bought heavy weight cords, all out.
You can see the shack all the way from the highway, it's amazing grace eye candy.

I’ve come to the conclusion that Christmas lights are one time use only. I buy new ones every year...sad but true. Sick of trying to fix the low quality pieces of [bleep]

Some years we put out lights. Others we don't. Depends if the wife wants to put them up or not.

Don't be cheap bastids and buy off-brand Chinese junk. I now stick with either GE or Sylvania. But even then the Aleutian Hell weather beats the schitt out of them after about two seasons. Incandescents have no chance in this fahqing blowhole.

I bought 4 of those LED shooting light cans I can point at my house a few years ago.
X-mas lights take 10 minutes, and the entire compound is LIT UP in dancing red and green.
Happy wife, happy life.

13 years ago I was widowed and living alone. Christmas lights weren't high on my to do list. A friend had got married to a decoration freak and she kept urging him to urge me to get some lights up. I told him one day to drive her by my house after dark that night and I'd have them all up and running. I had an old string of those big golf ball sized bulbs that I hung in a tree in front of the house. Then I unscrewed all but 1 blue bulb and turned it on. I heard later that when she saw my blue bulb she hit the fan.
