I agree late season is the best. I like to hunt alone for the most part. I like to hunt cattails late season. I’ve found that late season the springs open up and the birds have cover and water in the cattails. I roll with a skeet tube in my bottom barrel and an IC in the top when using an over under. My A5’s are all modified and I prefer to use #5’s at 1200-1250 FPS.

Late season birds are funny. Sometimes you can be quiet and walking into the wind and they will bail 200 yards ahead of you. Other times you can be doing everything wrong and they will hold tight. I’ve made a habit of walking 20-30 yards and stopping in heavy cover, a lot of times the birds will get nervous when they stop hearing you and flush.
