I just purchased a Browning BPS in .410, and am now saving for a light weight 28 gauge repeater.

Not sure if I want a pump or auto. Franchi makes an really nice lightweight 28, or I could get another BPS in 28.

The Franchi would be lighter, and might handle a little better for fast shots.

Anyone have either, or another light weight 28 gauge they like?

I've got lots of time to think on this, and "save up"

Thanks! Virgil B.

Well, Ithaca makes a sweet little 28 ga pump. Unfortunately, Ithaca just bumped up their MSRP on all of their guns.

Called Ithaca to order a 28 a few months ago, Ol biitch that answered was about as helpful as a turd. Hi I’d like to order a 28 gauge. We don’t have any. Ok I’d like to get put on the list. We don’t have a list, we don’t have any receivers and we don’t know when we’re gonna produce anymore... ok then. Worst customer service ever . I’d go bps

May find one on the used market. I like mine. Butt stock is butt ugly, but handles a lot better than it looks. At least mine has some nice wood. They seem well made, reportedly better made than some of the earlier Ithacas, especially those transition versions. I have a first year Ithaca 20 ga. This one is not slicker than that one.

Yep, she is the queen of frustration. I tried to get past her for months and couldn't. Finally gave their phone # to a local dealer, he got through to sales/service, ordered a 28 ga for me, showed up here about 10 days ago. This stupid delay cost me more money because Ithaca just bumped their prices.

Saw a Browning Model 12 in 28 gauge on gunbroker earlier today...not sure how the Browning reproduction compares to the original Winchester.

Goes to show you how a different person....on the other end....makes the difference....

Ithaca 37 28 Gauge....Had a feeding firing issue with mine when I first got it...Called and was transferred to repair...Guy was super and said send it back...It was back home within a week...But it came back with an extra entire bolt assembly...Called them and the guy said.."Hmm, well it is yours now, and thanks for choosing Ithaca."

The Browning model 12's are super nice, but they're only available in 26", and I'm a 28" kind of guy. So went for the Franchi.

I've heard good things about the Franchi.

The closest I have is a 1100 with 27" bbl. It's not the slick finished Sporting Clays model, has a dull finish. I traded for it, probably a field grade or such.

It's a nice dove gun, slightly heavier than your Franchi.

If you ever handle a Franchi you will fall in love with it.

Thanks for all the great replies!

I just got $200. for Christmas money that I can put in my "stash" for a 28,

And I'm thinking on selling my 870 Tactical 12 ga. and adding that money to my next shotgun fund.
