Does anyone collect them, display or practice a martial arts with them?
I wasn’t sure where to post the question.. any goes here. We should have a separate forum for blades and tools, just saying.

Yup. Nothing special as far as collectables. I like users rather than wall hangers. One that is technically a sword is also a multipurpose brush hog and for pruning limbs just out of reach when I'm too lazy to get out the ladder and carry it way out to the field. It's the longest Kukri I've ever found. About a yard long and designed to remove the heads from bullocks with one strike.
For practice and training, I much prefer the quick lightweight double swords....one in each hand. They can be anything from butcher knives and machetes to katanas. Its all good.

Hard finding a sword at a price that could be used for fighting. I like the wakazashi and katana style swords. Kendo would be a great art to learn but never had the chance.

I know people that regularly train with Katana in their martial arts practices. And when I was young, I trained Philipino stick and knife fighting for about 5 years.

You can benefit from it. However, If you can find a good Filipino martial arts school in your area, you'll enjoy how truly practical it is when adapted to modern street encounters. It just depends on what you want to get out of it.

If You had a good teacher then you have a good foundation to build upon if you wish to rejuvenate those skills. Five years is longer than most "stick" with formal stick training.
