I have a Lincoln Precision TIG 185.
I made some welds in 2008 and it worked fine.
It will pop the circuit breaker for the shop, so I have to hot wire it from more than one breaker. The wife is also an electrical engineer, and she busts me for fire hazard.
My brother has the same thing and makes beautiful welds on old Mauser bolt handles.

If you haven't seen this review https://youtu.be/EZdaaf72FB0No experience with the HTP but have an old Miller 300 tig / stick machine , all 500# of it, and it does well for my needs. Newer tech, pulse, etc would be nice, and I know mine is a Dino, but sticker shock is huge on good machines. Good luck

I have an HTP DC only TIG welder, 13 years old. Has been a good machine for what it does.
I now have a Lincoln Square Wave TIG 200. The SW200 is a very good TIG regardless of cost. How a similar HTP model compares to the SW200 I don't know first hand but would think the Lincoln would be as good a machine in the long run and appears to cost less.
My old HTP had some different size electrode cups/fittings etc. than what would be "standard" on Miller or Lincoln but that could just be from that era of machine and model. Check them out closely and look for reviews on both and compare replacement torch parts/consumables availability and go from there.
Also consider the HTP welders are all 220v(?) vs the SW200 is standard 120. I've found the SW200 is not lacking in any way with 120v vs 220v, just plug in the wall and go.

HTP is available in both 220v and multi voltage
The Miller is an odd duck; the Dynasty comes in DX. CPS, plain vanilla and CPS /DX. kinda confusing

I bought a SW200 last year. I really like it compared to the older technology. 120/240 but less amps when plugged into 120. We do lots of aluminum as well as steel. Just under $2k with a bunch of consumables delivered to my door.

You know you can get service and support out of the Miller, can you get service and support out of the HTP?

I bought a Miller Millermatic 220 two years ago and it's the best. It will weld anything, anyway you want to. It's the 4th welder in the barn and the only one that gets used anymore.
Life is good live it while you can.

Miller Dynasty or the new Miller Multimatic that's ac/dc. I've had my Dynasty for 12 years or so now and I've made a barrel full of cash doing side jobs. If mine blew up today I'd immediately buy another. Can't live without it.

What are you going to do with it? Work, Play? I’m partial to the miller line of welders myself.

Any of you guys have one? Trying to decide between this and a Miller I have one, it works very well but the foot pedal could be a lot better. I am not pro, just a backyard hack, it has excellent reviews from those who know how to weld and 825 felt better than 1750+. Currently I have the HTP, a Lincoln 175 Mig and an Hobart Stick, the first was a Miller Mig.

Paid $1800 for my Dynasty 200DX, used, remanufactured, and used some more.

Paid $1800 for my Dynasty 200DX, used, remanufactured, and used some more. I have the same machine. I put a gas lens with a Pyrex cup on the torch and added a foot control. For what all it will do it is really a pretty sweet little machine.

Where are HTP welders made?
