Anyone tried it with 150 grain bullets? I blundered upon an 8 lb keg at a good price and am looking for uses for it beyond my .260 load that I like it for. Ramshot has data, but wondering if it is too slow for best results.

No personal experience with using it in 30-30, but I’d use it. Notice on the burn chart that Leverevolution is only a few steps faster than Big Game. I’m using up some IMR4320 for my 30-30 loads, and it’s not much faster burning. Big Game may not be as efficient as a faster burning, but I’d still use it for a 16” or 20” lever.

I've loaded W760 compressed under 200gr cast bullets with CCI250's in 30-30, and it shoots very well at close to 2000fps. It isn't that Big Game is way too slow, but combined with 150 grain bullets, you may not be able to get enough in the case to get good results, I suspect. I couldn't say for sure. Give it a try, and let us know. I suspect it would do better with bullets at least 170 grains.

You'll have the advantage of not having to weigh charges.

Looks like it should work:

Code
Cartridge : .30-30 Win. (SAAMI)
Bullet : .308, 150, Hornady RN 3035
Useable Case Capaci: 36.582 grain H2O = 2.375 cm³
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 2.550 inch = 64.77 mm
Barrel Length : 20.0 inch = 508.0 mm
Powder : Ramshot Big Game

Predicted data by increasing and decreasing the given charge,
incremented in steps of 1.389% of nominal charge.

MichieD, like the stories of people dipping a .270 full of the old military surplus 4831 and seating a bullet! I know it's not ideal, but my .30-30 gets a lot of use as a farm truck/camping gun.......a few less fps won't hurt me for that purpose. I will give it a try this summer. Thanks all for the input.

I'm sure it will go bang and likely work fine. It's not a jug of RL33
