Very cool. Looks like familiar territory.

I was guessing Platte River, but not sure as to where. It could have been two miles from me or 200 miles......ha ha

Lighting and framing are SUPERB!
Seems that the perfect . . . PERFECT light is very fleeting most times!

I was just out for a early morning drive and happened to see him framed in the trees. Sun was just rising so the light was about as good as it gets...

I’ve shot coyotes tailing 140 plus class deer instead of shooting the buck.
One of my favorite things to do is to let a plains coyote run until he feels safe and stop.... which is almost 500 yards most of the time, it gets tricky past 600 but at 5 I roll them up and give the farmers a chuckle. This normally happens in western KS and the farmers drive into a field and the yotes run... until they don’t.

Trying not to work too much. Makes you old before your time. Although, to be fair, these where all "weekend" shots while visiting my father-in-law.

Yes. Nice morning shot there, and looks to be a large one. Cookie had some luck with 3 or 4 here in SE Oregon this fall. Her technique is to spot one working a ditch, fence line, or stream bank, and with the wind in her favor slip in unnoticed ahead. Sit still, and they will walk right up into ones face. Really enjoy watching them work the rodents. With a little age, they become extremely efficient. A couple lucky shots on this Page

Excellent capture! He'd have never stood in that perfect window (sans brush) if you had a rifle in your hands.
