I’ve got one. It’s been flawless so far but I’ve only had it for a year. Used it plenty though with no issues.

I'm cheap. I bought one from Tractor Supply about 5 years ago, and it's been great. But, only dig a few holes a year, so it doesn't get used a lot. We do have one area that has some limestone rock, and have hit rock trying to dig post holes. It's stood up to that, so I can't complain about something that I don't have a lot of money in.

Correct me if I'm wrong, The Danuser might be the best auger. If the cutting edge is the same, and Jake's auger is, it should drill as well as any?

True to the title of the thread, if not its intent, I still have Dad's old T-handle auger. It has served very well for lots of years. When I first saw one of those silly, scissor-handled, push-it-in-the-ground diggers, I wondered "Why on Earth?". I still do.

The clamshell diggers work well cleaning out a post hole John.

I can see that - hadn't thought of it. Just as an aside, were they ever sold new, or did they come directly from the factory with the weathered wood handles and the rusted steel? smile

The best pair I ever use we bought from the REC for $5. Long handles for digging DEEP holes. I messed up, and broke the handle carrying it in a loader bucket. blush

That's all I use them for. I always thought that was the intent.

I’ve got a no-name digger.

I did learn not to drill a 12” hole for 2 7/8” pipe.

I made several trips to the store for quickrete that day. 😂🤣
