In the market for 223 dies so I've been shopping around online. Checked out eBay and there is a set of RCBS dies (seater and FL) and current bid is $56 plus $8 shipping. Nothing fancy, just a regular 2 die set. Same die set on Amazon for $36 with free shipping. Good god people, pull it together already.

People do this with everything. They think their stuff is rare and special. I was looking for Hogue Monogrips not too long ago, and people on ebay are TRYING to sell their used ones for more than you can get a brand new one for... including shipping. Whatever, dude.

I think what some of these sellers are doing, not just gun related, but everything, is cruising for that one guy in 500 that is drunker than Billies Goat and buying stuff with the wisdom that only a bellyful of booze can bring. I was looking at some precision measuring tools the other day, a tubing micrometer that would be a bargain at 50 bucks was listed buy it now, for 40 bucks...then the kicker, 38 dollars shipping. People must bite occasionally or the sellers wouldn't be doing it.

Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

Could be. Or a pair of bidders getting emotional and not understanding what is going out outside their bubble.

It's the auction mentality. Same thing happens on Gunbroker regularly. If someone else places a bid, there is often someone that wants to top them just to win it and keep someone else from winning it, no matter how illogical the price point ends up at.

Old people are addicted to auctions.

It stimulates their synapsis,

My old man cannot stay off Govdeals.com. He’ll buy total crap and get played with plant bidders on run-ups.

His money oh well.

Saw a guy selling gift cards at face value + some kind of markup on there. I emailed him to ask if people actually buy them from him when when you can get online and get them straight from the company and mailed directly to them free. He had lots of positive feedback too.

He said people buy the higher priced ones from him ALL THE TIME! He figured if they’re willing to pay then he was certainly willing to sell! Why not I guess if people are that stoopid. Kinda like the lottery. We had a secretary who even hit it for a couple million. A few years later she was back working for us again, just as broke as before.

It's not just auction hysteria. Plenty of people with stuff for sale (not auction), with a "buy it now" price that is way too high. These folks just seem to think their stuff is special. Of course, I see the same thing at gun shows...

I have often seen other things, like flintlocke has said, where the price seems good, and then you see "$56 shipping"..... These bastards are just hoping to catch someone who doesn't notice the ridiculous shipping fee until it's too late.

Free market economy. People get jealous when other people make money.

Instead of bitching, go to Amazon snd buy 10 sets of the $36.00 dies, list on ebay, sell for $56.00. $200 profit, easy Peasy.

Picked up an 8’ Penn surf rod at Greentop today for $20, I reckon I’ll sell it on eBay for $600.
