Doesn’t get any better or more exciting than using a classic Winchester Lever, classic Winchester cartridge, classic Barnes bullet and open sights inside 100 yards. Well done, nice bull.
I might add that I like your "old school" hunting clothes. Wouldn't of been the same wonderful picture if you had been wearing the latest and greatest high tech gear. Here in Alaska I wear wool shirts, smart wool socks and undergarments and light weight wool pants. Never far from Helly Hansen Impertech rain gear either.
I killed a cow elk with a 2nd year deluxe. Used the long extinct 200 grain Remington Mushroom Cor-Lokt hp. This was Remington's attempt at a controlled expansion bullet. I caught her at the back rib as she was running away and found the bullet in the lungs. Perfect mushroom. My son-in-law shot a buffalo using an old Winchester 250 grain Silvertip. Both instances, animals down quickly.
