Where:

Toenails, fingernails, digging a splinter out. Scraping off a gasket. Cutting banding materials.....

Whatever comes along.

I'm pretty sure TRH's protocol for that involves vacuum sealing.

~21 years ago I went on a date with a young lady to a French restaurant, her choice. I ordered a steak and when they brought it to me there was no steak knife. I asked for one and was told they were out of them. I’m not sure how this happens in a “nice” restaurant. Luckily I’m a redneck and my Benchmade did the job. She wasn’t impressed but I didn’t care and I wasn’t impressed with the dinner

Break out that $500 Infidel to cut up a $9.00 steak at Applebees.

Been taking a sharp knife to restaurants for the last thirty years. Also a little tupperware tub of homemade jam for the bread. The wife was mortified at first but now she carries the stuff in her purse. Not uncommon for the waitress to want to taste the jam.

Wouldn't this be a good place for a Havalon with a replaceable blade?

I don't want to go back to working in bars/restaurants again but if I did - last thing I do is taste some dude's jam....

Steak knife?

WTF?
That's weird.

My right pocket has a cheap little CRKT something.
Pretty sharp, it has a great splinter digging point and also
cuts anything that would screw up the Spyderco clipped to my pocket.

Either can cut my food, depending on what's under it.

A decent knife, that I want sharp, is not going to be used on a ceramic or metal plate.

I never quite understood the fancy steak knife thing.
Guys won't use a serrated knife to cut something they are going
to chew, mix with spit, and eventually turn into schitz?

These same guys, cutting a steak on a very hard and unforgiving surface,
Will run a 20 page thread on cutting boards. Extoling the virtues of pine as opposed
to maple in preserving the knife edge.

Because it's softer! cry

Again,
WTF?

But, this is coming from an unwashed hillbilly.
We are so dumb we don't even know what we don't know.

Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!
