If it's a really good price, it might be a bargain or a jammer. See if you can cycle a mag full of Winchester 510gn factory rounds through it without hang-up. If it's a really really good price buy it anyway.

The 458 is a fun round and more versatile than a lot of people think. With lead or pistol bullets it is fun to shoot and hell on hogs and deer. Full power rounds would get your attention in an 8.5 lb. rifle but with scope, sling and ammo you will be closer to 9.5-10 lbs. which well help with the 500 grain loads.
You can always re-barrel to another cartridge if the 458 doesn't get used.
You do know this is not the best place to ask if you should buy a rifle unless you have already decided you want it.

Buy it!!! I love the .458 ... it's a terrific cartridge
You'll probably never NEED a gun. In fact I hope you never do. BUT IF you do, you will probably need it worse than anything you've ever needed before in your life...

The few words about the rifle, perhaps an 'outline', but surely not achieving any kind of reasonable description... I did enjoy the persuasive message; seller saying it was "commercial". i did not buy it. it stil sits there. instead I bought a New M70 FWT in 280 REM I have 2 Berreta Mato's in 280 Rem, I sure you will like the 280 You should have gotten the 458 also

If anyone wants a fun load in the .458, I recommend the 300gn Barnes Cave Point designed for the .45/70.
This bullet shoots very accurately in the .458 Winchester and there isn't much with a pulse that cannot succumb to its influence. Groups with bullets holes touching is a long way from rare.

For handloader one of the strengths of .458 Winchester is it can be loaded with cast lead bullets to standard .45-70 velocities or slightly less and used for deer/hog hunting in USA.
