So I got swooped on midway and the die I had in my cart disappeared.
Think about work arounds I was looking through the SAAMI drawings.
And it seems like decapping/sizing dies for these two cases:
.222 Remington
.221Fireball

Would put pistol brass in reasonable shape before expanding the mouth and seat/Crimping.

I know there are a ton of old 30.06 dies floating around and I assume the above will be less available, but I am wondering how much less so.

Not sure what caliber pistol cartridges you're talking about, but if its 9mm, a 222/221 die will not work.

Per SAAMI specifications
Both casing taper from 9.54xmm at the base down to 9.1xx just below the shoulder
Seems .223 has the same stArting diameter with a bit more taper (to 8.997mm)

Should have no trouble finding 222 components. 221 will be a bit trickier.

As far as a ton of old 30-06 dies around, in reality, the 222 probably outsold the 223 in dies prior to/around 1990.

Thanks all did a test run with my .223 die last night. Forgot that they are all based off the same case.

A bit of SHTF good to know that I found is the .22x family of sizing dies will work to size the .380.
So if you have to travel light...

Very common in the varmint & target shooters world

Have both.....but they are for 20 caliber

Redding bushing neck dies/Forster BR seaters

20-222 & 20 Vartarg

These are both 'magical' in the p/dog fields

Thanks OSU & Tikka
I will see how close the latter steps dies fit before I look into modifying something.
I figure in many cases I will not have th full length resize so I may be able to shuffle around a recapping head to keep things running and hopefully the primer supply will loosen up again, but the dies will probably shake loose before primers do.

That looks like a great spot for popping a few dogs!

Thanks all.
Anyone know the pitch of the thread on dies?
I am thinking of getting a sleeve to put my decapping pin in a crimp die until sizing die market loosens up.
