Milwaukee tools are made in China, and owned by a Chinese man. The only tools now days that are not made in China are Festool some Dewalt drills and perhaps a few others. I will take tools made in Japan and Taiwan all day long over China. I hate most of their products. Most of it is junk.

Vintage Keen Kutters are good steel. I also have a vintage Keen Kutter chisel that is good steel.

Here's a current version of an old American brand, Snow and Nealley:

There aren't any brands that you can be certain will give you
a perfect product.

Or totally make it right if they don't.

There are a lot of tools and equipment that i would rather have
old stuff than new. Durability, and designed to be repaired is the attraction.

In the last year I have put about $300 into fixing our washer and dryer.
Maytag from the 1990's.
Nothing outsourced, everything designed to be repaired.
Guys at work made fun if me. In 10 years I will need to replace the
tub bearing again. $120.

If they bought a new machine last year, it would
most likely be junk in less than 10 years.

Trusted Maytag 30 years ago.
Not now.

I hear ya. Our 5 year old LG dryer had a drum bearing lock up the day before Christmas. Most parts on LG's website were out of stock. Nobody locally was any help as they wanted to sell service (which I understand). $40 online for 4 new bearings, tensioner/pully and a belt, and a few hours of my time and it's back up and running. Part are off-brand of unknow quality but the Wife wanted it fixed el-pronto. It does get a lot of use but my folks are still running a 30 year old Kenmore dryer.
