Mook, I am a public high school teacher in AK, too, and I feel the same exact fears you do. I of course keep the politics out of my classroom too, (because unlike my socialist colleagues, I am professional) but I genuinely believe that if I speak my mind in a public forum that I will be put on blast and disciplined/"cancelled". And I hate that it somehow makes me feel like I am a bad person for having these beliefs...because logically if I had the 'right' beliefs I shouldn't have to worry about being cancelled....right?!?!? But that's just it...it has nothing to do with morality or reason or something being "right", it only matters how in-step you are being with leftist agendas. Or how loudly someone screams in opposition at you (or really, your school board/admin). Yet they can post whatever s*** opinion they want because they ARE the mob.

Thanks for the support! I feel much better. I was very angry that day. Still won't post it to social media but it felt good being able to post it here. I did NOT unfriend, but have unfollowed a few of my leftist buddies, as I can't take their rank pleas for unity.
While I may not see eye to eye with you, I am definitely not blind to the major problems with the Democratic Party and Washington in general. I believe, the sooner we get beyond a trump vs Biden or republican vs democratic battle, the sooner America will become united against the true enemies.

To the OP. I don’t see how the tyranny you see or expect is going to come about. We have a country almost evenly divided on the issues of substance. We have a Senate perfectly divided between R and D. Under this situation, how is one side going to be able to martial enough power to govern anywhere except very close to the middle? The electorate in this country has never swung radically to one side of another for any great length of time without a rebound back to the middle. That’s our history, and there is no reason at present to expect that is likely to change. As long anyway, as BOTH sides are willing to accept the results of elections.
That’s what elections are all about, to sort out all our disparate beliefs, prejudices, passions etc. in to some kind of workable compromise. No side will ever be satisfied and it’s always a good idea to be very skeptical of both sides, but I don’t know of a better way to go about governing. That is, unless you think the anarchy we saw at the capital two weeks ago is a superior method of sorting things out.
Under our federal system, the Constitution dictates that the candidate getting the most electoral votes is the winner. Four years ago, we had a certain winner, this time another. (I suspect, I’m just as skeptical as the next guy, but after a zillion investigations and court cases it seems rational to accept the election was as fair as it could or needed to be).
Our system isn’t perfect, but so far it seems to be working pretty well. Again, given a divided electorate and with all sides accepting election results, I don’t see tyranny around the corner.

...Except that Harris is the tiebreaker for the senate, and she was literally the most liberal senator in 2019. And the house is strongly blue. And the President will be pushed farther and farther left by his party. ...And except that many representatives and senators have openly spoken about wanting to add to and stack the courts with leftist justices. Biden has been purposely silent of that but that was only to win the debates and not be honest with the public.
That plus censorship and a call for "re-education and control of the trump supporters"...yeah I'm definitely not seeing any possibility of tyranny.

You are missing a key component to your argument about a "fairly" divided political system between Dems and Rep.. And that is that those in control of information are CLEARLY slanted toward the left/dem side. From Hollywood to the social media platforms to the education system from primary through the university. We are all merely a commodity to be manipulated and capitalized on by them for them. Information is very much a currency and the left holds a majority of it they are monetizing that information to suit their agenda. They are running Goebbels's play book to the letter(rewrite history, cancel opposing views) and millions are falling right in lock step. The recent anarchy you speak of was carried out all summer long without the condemnation of the people I speak of, There are troubled times ahead. The ONE thing everyone on this board can agree on is the second amendment. If you have read any portion of the bill that has been introduced you should be very concerned. If just a portion of it is passed it will change everything we do or can do. People who hunt, shoot or earn a living in any way in the firearms business will be affected.
