He will be the swing vote now. He has stated he won't go for ending the filibuster and stacking the Supreme Court. We shall see.
If he does stay center left he might help save The Republic.

West Virginia is a Red State. Seems to me if he wants to be re elected to the Senate, he would have to flip party's like 'Jumpin Jim Jeffords' Not sure but I think Manchin has to run in the mid terms 2022. You won't see him voting for any type of gun control West Virginian's wont tolerate it . The gun issue along with coal is what flipped my home state red not that long ago...

Right now preserving 2A and the 9-member court through the filibuster is about what we can hope for. For the 2A, they’ll have to stack the scotus but with Breyers’s and Thomas’ age, it ain’t looking too good for the intermediate or long haul.

Democrat heads would explode. I don't know why he wouldn't. His constituents would welcome it their the only one's he has to answer to. In fact he stated the night Trump was elected in 2016 that "There's nothing stopping me from switching party's" So it's been on his mind.

All politicians at that level are power hungry. Manchin is no different, he knows WV was overwhelmingly in support of President Trumps agenda and that supporting any of the Dems radical leftist agenda will cost him greatly when seeking re-election.

Didn't Manchin go on TV and say you don't need an AR? He's a hunter and all you need is your trusty Remington 700 BDL? His daughter has a job as a CEO of some big Pharma company, her salary was 18 million a year, Manchin defended her and her salary while people's kids couldn't get an allergy drug because of the cost! Just another me, myself and I politician, he'll go whichever the wind blows best for him!

What I would worry about is Murkowski, Collins, and Romney doing what they do best - "why can't we get along and the democrats have so many good programs that we just have to vote demon."
