The first thing I think is I should have been buying 99R shooters in 250 for the last 15 years.

Replaced studs, replaced rear sight, normal wear from being hunted, part of stock sanded and poorly refinished.

Seller does not try to hide anything. Jorge, YOU are the one that has to decide. I have one just like that one and I bought it about 5 years ago. I paid about one third that price. But it all depends on YOU.

Thank you gents. I thought it was a bit on the high side as I've paid no more than 750 for real nice Rs and a SUBERB EG. Granted both in 300 Savage, but I really want a 250. Guess I'll keep looking.

Right now is a tough time to go looking.. there's been a tad bit of a price jump in the last year. Don't know if it will be permanent or not. But for that price, you should be able to get a high quality gun.

I just partially traded for a truck and let this one go for $900 with a Leupold 2.5-8 scope.

Could have got 350 for that scope plus shipping on Ebay right now. Only months ago you could buy all of them you wanted for 250 shipped.

That rig could easily bring 1200 plus.

I wanted him to have it. He had a shoulder replacement and needed a soft shooter. It was all sighted in and I gave him a box of the ammo it likes. I made a friend in the deal. Some things matter more than money.

Yeah Randy he was a really good dude and he got me a great work truck. I gave up some old iron in the deal including a 1901 1899C in 30 Sav. He offered to let me hunt his mountaintop property for blacktails which has some dandy bucks. The 99R 250 should be perfect for him.

Just offering a thought, but not about this rifle. I have no clear idea of value.
.. A rifle of interest and usually "uncommon" model; part of my self-analysis... Not just how badly I wanted the rifle, but "likelihood" of finding another equivalent gun in reasonable time and at substantially better price. I've bought more than a few guns at 'premium price'; the likelihood factor, making the purchase worthwhile to me.
Just my take.

I'll put forth a question to all, .300 Sav vs .250 Sav in the same model and conditon from the `50's... what's the difference in price?

I won't venture a guess in price considering what's been going on lately but, relative to each other, more guys are willing to pay a higher price for a 250 - which is one of the reasons why I tend to prefer the 300.

I'd go as high as 50%.

Example:

EG: 300: $600, 250 $900

50's F: 300: $800, 250: 1200

G: 300: $1000, 250: $1500

Pre War R: 300, $1200, 250, $1800

And so on....

Just bought a late 1920's 99G in 250-3000 with 1-10" twist. Looking forward to shooting it.
