This is a pic from my family book.
The farm sale of the first known of my family to set foot here.
Sorry about the pic. It's the best I could do.

I think the prices are interesting, considering the differences in money values.
Look at the grain prices in particular.
But then I don't think they were yielding 100bu/acre and covering an acre every
few minutes either.

My family moved to where I'm at in 1843. Every little bit of information I can find I cherish. Since my dad passed suddenly four years now, my biggest regret is not writing things down as they were told from him and his uncles. I try to remember all the stories told and retold and tell them to my sons. Seems like times have changed from resting on the front porch and stories.

Dads. Got the book from Aunt Margaret's daughter Dot.

Notice the bag of hops.

He was from Bavaria, I think.

Also the still.

Hmmm, farmer from frontier Pa in that time period who made beer and whiskey.
Might have been a bit rebellious?

There weren't.

This is from a family history book compiled in the 1960's.
Scanning and desktop publishing weren't real common then.

So, almost everything had to be typed for the printers, I think.

These books were a bit expensive to begin with,
They couldn't be too fancy with a bunch of pictures.

A whole sheep for $2.
What was the hot rifle of the day in 1815?
$12 for the rifle and shot.
2.6 bibles to a rifle
6 sheep to a rifle.
How long would 1 sheep feed a family? With no refrigeration?

Interesting
