That's a really nice rifle.

When I was building walk about varmint rifles in the late seventies, they were pretty much just like this though the chambering would vary. I like this so much better than the tactical styling so many like today. You deserve some credit as well for resisting the urge to put a gear shifter knob on the bolt. GD

65- according to Hart yes, but I have a few factory sporter rifles and this barrel is a good bit heavier....so I’d say no lol.
Thanks pointer- old school is what I was going for.
GD- never did much care for the look of those oversized knobs.....I guess if seconds really mattered it could save you from a charging woodchuck. Idk.

223 Rem, my favorite cartridge - you can't argue with truckloads of dead PD's and gophers.

Hart went a tad over on my 338/06 specs, was a 1/2 MOA gun every group.......probably could have done better with more scope and a bit of load tune. Thanks and enjoy!

Ping pong balls for the win. Once you've wrestled everything else in life is easy. Dan Gable I keep my circle small, I’d rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.

I made a 222 a few years ago too. I began with a Ruger #3 in 45-70. Put on a Schelen barrel in 222 and replaced the #3 wood with wood for a Ruger #1. sure you did you anti gun nazi

Never was able to find a .222 that I really liked in factory form so I decided to have one built to my liking. I really like how this one turned out and I’m hoping it’s a shooter. The only thing I need to do is lose that plastic garbage trigger guard for an aluminum one and install the TriggerTech that I’m currently waiting on. I agree about the comment that the OP will get 3/8" - EASILY.
