Colt Combat Commander that has has the ejection port opened up and the throat ramp polished.

It has not failed to chamber ammo from 185 grain HP to 230 grain HP.

Round nose/hardball is a no brainer.

I've been seriously looking at the Guardian lately.

I have a couple of faves...this is one of them. It's been in here before, but hey, it is what it is.

I have a Guardian 45. It is my absolute favorite 1911 for carry. I have had it for 10+ years now and had zero hiccups. I will eventually try to get one in 9mm as well.

I've had bad luck with alloy framed 1911s in the past, in that all of them that I've had so far have frequently launched hot brass into my face. Never had that happen with a steel framed 1911. You have any of that with your Guardian?

I don't own any of what you would call high $$$ 1911's but the three I do own all run good and hammer the 8" and 6" 25 yd. gongs consistently (depending on my coffee intake) which is all I expect of them for a fun hour or so at the range.....I rotate taking one to the range once or twice a week and run 100 rounds of my 230 gr. FMJ ball ammo through them each trip.

No real favorite between the three.......all three are stainless, 5" and chambered in 45ACP.

Never had that issue with my Guardian but have have experienced what you are referencing with an alloy framed Kimber.

You can't always use the "lost them in a boating accident" story.

I’d love to get an STI, but I can’t get one in CA. I do have a Rock Island Armory 1911 in 9 mm that is a joy to shoot, and it was only $500 6 years ago. Not fancy but works very well.

Have owned an even half dozen 1911's over the years, starting with a Remington Rand from WWII.

My all time favorite is my current 1911, a 4" Springfield Armory EMP 9MM

I fits my hands "just right" and, I can HIT well with it!

This is a great looking pistol built by one of the best Colt 1911 gunsmiths around. The nickel frame really stands out on this so be sure to check our pictures. If you are a serious Colt collector, adding an Armand Swenson custom built Colt that was originally built in WWII with matching frame and slide will certainly help to fill-out your collection.
