I sold all my 1911s at a gun show. Dont remember who bought them.
Why would you do that?

I have a Kimber Warrior I won in my Predator Hunting Club raffle. Only fuqking thing I ever won. Half of proceeds went to Wounded Warriors Foundation, other half went to fund the building of water guzzlers for CA Desert wildlife.
I get on these kicks...For a while it's Colt and USFA Single Action Army's then it was Percussion Revolvers then Dakota Predator bolt guns then Freedom Arms Model 83 hand cannons to AR's It is a disease for certain. I collect Sakos.
TRP for me. I have several. I have been looking closely at the Staccato Duo. I hope that we still will be able to buy 2011s when my tax refund comes in.
I have a buddy who's a Cop so Ammo is not an issue for the most part
The cop two houses down from me has offered to get me ammo through the police program he has access to. The offer was made a couple of years ago, so I'm not sure if it still holds, particularly in light of the recent insanity.

TRPs are solid guns. I've had mine since the late 1990s. Believe it or not, it was my EDC for a few years. That Armory Kote finish is tough, as it still looks pretty new.
The Commander length is my overall favorite. It has an Officer's frame and is a pleasure to carry. I bought a couple of Scheumann barrels and will be playing with these in the not too distant future.
The bottom barrel has a Briley comp.
I love tinkering with 45's and assume it'll continue to be a lifelong hobby.

I've been seriously looking at the Guardian lately.
I have a Guardian 45. It is my absolute favorite 1911 for carry. I have had it for 10+ years now and had zero hiccups. I will eventually try to get one in 9mm as well.

I've had bad luck with alloy framed 1911s in the past, in that all of them that I've had so far have frequently launched hot brass into my face. Never had that happen with a steel framed 1911. You have any of that with your Guardian?
I don't own any of what you would call high $$$ 1911's but the three I do own all run good and hammer the 8" and 6" 25 yd. gongs consistently (depending on my coffee intake) which is all I expect of them for a fun hour or so at the range.....I rotate taking one to the range once or twice a week and run 100 rounds of my 230 gr. FMJ ball ammo through them each trip.
No real favorite between the three.......all three are stainless, 5" and chambered in 45ACP.

Never had that issue with my Guardian but have have experienced what you are referencing with an alloy framed Kimber.
I’d love to put my Peter beaters on an STI 2011. Scared to pull the trigger afraid the grips will feel desert eagle esque
The contour and angle on the STI 2011 handle is excellent.
You touch a full size 2011, not the sub compact model and money says it’s coming home with you.

I’d love to get an STI, but I can’t get one in CA. I do have a Rock Island Armory 1911 in 9 mm that is a joy to shoot, and it was only $500 6 years ago. Not fancy but works very well.
As written by Jason Burton at http://www.coolgunsite.com/comm_pistols/custom/swenson/swenson.htm: “Anyone who has read enough gun periodicals or has been around custom 1911s at any length has undoubtedly seen countless references to Armand Swenson and with good reason. As many have mentioned before, Swenson was one of the greatest and probably most important 1911 ‘smiths since Browning himself. Not necessarily because Swenson’s work was cosmetically perfect or without fault but because he was, to a greater or lesser extent, the first to really bring out the custom 1911 in the fashion that we know it today… or at least the first person to be widely recognized as such. While parts, techniques, technology, and the overall build of the custom 1911 have no doubt been elevated to a standard much higher than anything Swenson did the heart and soul of the custom 1911 is still firmly rooted and can be traced back to Armand Swenson’s work. Swenson paved the way for the “bulls-eye accurate and combat reliable” 1911s we have come to know and every custom maker working today owes him for that…. at least a little.”.
This is a great looking pistol built by one of the best Colt 1911 gunsmiths around. The nickel frame really stands out on this so be sure to check our pictures. If you are a serious Colt collector, adding an Armand Swenson custom built Colt that was originally built in WWII with matching frame and slide will certainly help to fill-out your collection.

I had a 1911 purge some years ago & got rid of several, but If I was a serious 1911 packer I'd have another Les Baer. Otherwise, I really enjoy & trust my twin pre series II Kimber LE's.
My favorite is in line for being built.....getting what I want. Commander slide on an Alloy Officers frame.
Pardon my ignorance, but I have a couple of questions: 1) Who is building your 1911? 2) why not a Commander slide on an Alloy Commander frame?
CT Brian is the builder. I have a SS Colt Model 80 Officers of his now. Most expensive gun I ever bought. X3. When I shot it I ordered my first ever custom pistol the next day.
I like the shorter frame of the Officers. Alloy is okay on the Commander’s slide. Have a Kimber Ultra Carry and short barrel with light frame is jumpier than I like. Not recoil sensitive ......shoot a John Linebaugh 475 ......just a bit jumpy....so the longer barrel. Slide is easier to wear than frame for carry
Army issue that I toted around Nam. Never missed, not once.
My grandfather's gift to me when I was 16..Got special permission from my Squadron CO to fly with it in SEA.
I have Glocks and a vintage Colt CC but this one will always be close to heart for so many reasons..
Dang, that is a early version of a improved 1911. that beaver tail is homemade. And pre Bomar micro sights I think.
Yes it is very early, a friend's father did the renovation for me before shipping out to Vietnam I requested the custom beaver tail mainly for my Sasquatch hands ..We had an aft weapons locker in our aircraft with M16 & M14's however the leftover crappy Korean War vintage S&W Mod 12's were not something any of us thought we could depend on if we got bagged and had to fight it out on the ground until the SAR cavalry arrived.
You better be afraid of a ghost!!

Dads 1911 from WW2 had been carried by a doctor friend in WW1 was stolen when my parents moved.....
+1 on the Valor . . . several Ed Brown parts at half the price of an Ed Brown. IMO, one of the best value's on the market.
Nevertheless, this Ed Brown Executive Target is on my bucket list.
"All that the South has ever desired was that the Union, as established by our forefathers, should be preserved, and that the government, as originally organized, should be administered in purity and truth." – Robert E. Lee
If I had a Ed Brown Kobra Carry bob tail......I might start a thread like this too.
I miss my stainless Kimber Carry and now understand better the whole Model 70 - model 80 Schwartz thing but .... still find my Sig two-tone attractive after a new thin set of grips rather decent looking.

I'm a pansy regarding pistol recoil. As such, I embraced the "V" series Springfields. I have the V-10 ultra-compact (single and double-stack), V-12 full-size, and V-16 long-slide. They're a far cry from most that are pictured here, but, they're what I'm comfortable shooting....

Shootability and reliability trump all else, regardless of price point.
Doubt I will buy any fancier ones, as it shoots pretty tight little groups and is super reliable.
Never seen a customized summer special before. I also noticed the Colt style thumb safety on your Les Baer that's interesting.
The Summer Special is a 50th Anniversary special edition that the Milt Sparks shop put out in 2019 (1969-2019). I was fortunate enough to get one.
In regards to the Premier II thumb safety, they normally come with a huge boat paddle ambi style, which I don't care for, so I had mine swapped for an old school small Colt style for carry purposes, as well as adding a Smith and Alexander magwell, and a fiber optic front sight. I figure if I am going to spend that kind of coin on a custom 1911, I want it exactly how I want it, not how someone else thinks it should be.
This particular P-II is one of the 1.5" @ 50 yard guns and it certainly shoots up to that accuracy guarantee. I have yet to find a load it does not like. Hard not to like a 1911 that is ultra accurate and ultra reliable. Money well spent.
THE CHAIR IS AGAINST THE WALL.
The Tikka T3 in .308 Winchester is the Glock 19 of the rifle world.
I'd consider selling it if your interested. It's like new and shot very little (less than 100 rounds). I have an EAA Witness 10mm I tend to shoot more is the only reason I'm considering selling.

What a coincidence my 10mm is a Witness also with some kind of silver coating called wonder finish or something like that.
Figures don't lie, But Liars figure Assumption is the mother of mistakes
With a barrel-bushing comp, not real efficient at reducing recoil, but really reduced slide velocity. Makes it clumsy to carry, so I took it back off, I don't shoot Supers that much. It dribbles cases from standard .45 ACP 230 ball loads at your feet.
I sent the barrel to a guy in NC, he honed the throat to accommodate cast bullets, shoots a 255 grain LBT great, I can seat out to where case capacity is not compromised, helping with pressure. 1050 fps gives it a little "smack".

Rowland is way ahead of you.
Gun Shows are almost as comical as boat ramps in the Spring.
Shooting the same bullet, just faster. The comp on this works better, so recoil is about the same.
Clark conversion.
Yep.
I'm down to a little over three minutes to switch from .45ACP to .460 and vice versa. Clark Conversion is where it's at. I got the gold cup version for a Colt Trophy
A Crown Royal bag comes in handy for the parts not currently being used in the gun.
Note: Got the bags from a Friend. I hate blended whisky. Ha!

I bought one of those new from a gun store in the early 1980s. I sold it in the late 1980s to fund the purchase of a Browning High Power. Should have kept it. Mine had a golden Colt medallion in both stocks.

Lot to be said for a "plain Colt Series 70", just a plain ol' working gun.

I picked that up brand new for $749 and intended to send it off for custom work. Then, I shot it. Decided just to leave it alone! It’s my favorite pistol.
The two that I built with early Springfield Armory frames and slides. One is a Gov't Model with a Nowlin bull barrel (bushing-less) that was my duty pistol while I was on Patrol, and the other is an Officer's Model frame with a Commander length slide & barrel, also bushing-less that I carried for my last nine years working undercover. Both are in my gun safe, ready to go.

You just cast doubt on any future opinion you post. Do you actually think the military has used an unreliable handgun desugn for the last 109 years?
Changing from it was about improved technology, Not getting a gun that worked.
It was a joke for f uck sake. You old f ucking boomers get wound up quick.
Ya if you like heavy, low rd count, jamomatics get a 1911. If not, step into this century........that will get your hackles up lol

I came this// close to buying this too. They are one of the best lookers with the grips, snake scale scallops, attention to detail. The bob tail makes alot of sense and the Scandium alloy is supposed to be closer to steel than to aluminum for durability. Did you know that S&W gives that frame a lifetime warranty?
