Would we expect anything less from a fudgepacker-run Bay Area firm?

I have downloaded the browser Dissent and it's running, I downloaded the email program Evolution to replace Thunderbird. Both of these Mozilla programs will soon be deleted. I hope others will do the same.

Is there a way to transfer my "Bookmarks" (favorites) from Firefox to another browser?

I went to Brave the other day and while setting it up, which took about 5 min. for a dummy like me, it asked if I wanted to transfer my bookmarks. It took about 30 seconds and there they were.

You got that right. Regardless of their politics, Firefox went to hell a long time ago.

I'm partial to Brave only because I know Brendan Eich has paid his dues and everyone who invests in him knows what he stands for. Brendan was CEO of Mozilla, but was cancelled for supporting real family.

Who are the players in Dissent?

Brave did it easily.

Dumped Firefox years ago.

Pick one and roll with it. If you don't like it, go to the other one.

Was using Edge a little because it was easier to use the viewer for court and county docs. It's working on Brave. Maybe not as fast, but that's not a big deal.

It's wise to backup your bookmarks in any browser, even if there's a SYNC option that stores them online. You may have to hunt around in Tools or Options to find something like Export Bookmarks. In Firefox, you can save them to a file as HTML (which other browsers can read) and store that file anywhere.

Our good friend Redneck learned that lesson the hard way a few years ago when he says Firefox dumped all of his.

I'm going to hold on to FF for a while until I see if they actually take any action or if the CEO's comments were just bluster - and they realize what losing a huge chunk of their user base would mean. But I do keep at least one other browser loaded and current anyway, just in case my FF takes a dump. There's no problem with having as many browsers on your machine as you like.

To backup and/or export in Firefox...

Got to Library, then Bookmarks.

Now go to the bottom of the box and click on Show All Bookmarks

In the toolbar, click on Import and Backup

Now select either Backup or Export as HTML, pick a place to store it, and click Save.

(Backup file may only be readable by FF, an HTML file ought to be readable by other browsers. Best to save both file types.)

Besides, Brave, EPIC is very good, secure & has a built in VPN that works.

Avast browser with a VPN is also top notch. Comodo Dragon with a VPN is also good.

Get a VPN.....................hint, re-hint.

And a secure email.

Rocky, I have collected 3 laptops that have overtime have become obsolete/too slow/ but still have some data, especially pictures in their HDs. One received the death blow when "upgrading" to Windows 10

I know you replaced windows with other OS (can't find the posts), is it possible to make those laptops usable again (nothing wrong except taking ages to boot and load programs).

Thanks
