been looking at it for a while and finally decided to go ahead and buy a Silex, with the stove jack. Gonna pick up a stove later, but decided it would be a good time to place an order with a Colorado business that makes their product here with materials made in the US. Hope to give it a try during Turkey season!

Been a while since you posted this. Curious what your thoughts are on the Silex now that you've had some time to use it.

I'm liking it, had to get used to floorless but not as big of a deal as I thought. Still haven't got a stove, but loving the room it has without it, able to sleep and get all my gear inside of it.

Never used a floorless, myself. I'm still on the fence. What took the most to get used to?

Sorry for the questions, but nobody I run with is into this kind of thing, and I don't listen to sales folks opinions.

No worries, it's really just getting used to being on the ground, I started with a groundsheet, but now just have an extra cheap foam pad I put under my inflatable to sleep on. What I mean by being on the ground is not having a floor like a tent and just having the dirt, grass, whatever in your tent. It's pretty dry here in Southern Colorado so it's not an issue. I probably wouldn't use it in Alaska or the PNW or a place with lots of creepy crawlies. I like it though, nice and light, packs up very small (does use your trekking poles as the supports, but I'm packing those anyways). It sets up fast and how the zipperless openings work, I envision setting it up to glass if the weather is crap, but haven't had the opportunity to. Hope that answers most of your questions, if not ask away!

I've been using my SO 6 man tipi for years and have been very happy with it and the lite outdoors stove setup.

3 is fairly comfy, I've done that with my adult sons with gear and firewood. In a push, and knowing we all get along, I did have my daughter join in for 4 days of antelope hunting in 2018, so that was 4 of us, but I'd not want more than 3 hunting non family dudes, no matter how well we know each other.
