I just bought an old 700 varmint special with an equally old set 12x weaver adjustable objective scope on it. It’s a k12-c3 US PAT 2949816. Although it’s a super cool older “retro” scope ( to me anyway) I’m thinking of replacing with modern glass that is brighter and more serviceable. Any one have any idea what this scope is worth if I were to sell it? Thanks in advance

Not a lot IMO. Have a K-8, had the Iron Sight bunch service it. Spent more than it’s worth.
Glass is just OK, but they do track well. Now if Leupold could learn how Bill Weaver made that happen....
He ground his own lenses. I’ve seen pictures of his lens grinding equipment. His coatings weren’t up to today’s standards. Cheap Chicom glass is brighter.
But just to develop loads, would be hard to beat.

For no more than you are going to get by selling it...why don't you test it for reliability and tracking on a hard kicker, and just keep it around if it passes, I think it will, and use it as a "check scope" in case you have a scope sometime (happens to me more than I'd like) that you begin to suspect a 'drifting zero'. I keep a couple of known reliability around to substitute when doubt begins to set in when developing loads and more often when people come to use my range. There are many levels of shooters out there, and when one of my guests start throwing fliers on target, I suggest a scope substitution, then we know if it's the shooter, his rifle, or his scope. I keep two of them, an old C3 Weaver 4x and a Bausch & Lomb 6x, that will not break. Confidence, and in the long run an ammo saver. It's one option.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

Now, that's a great idea.. They track very well and you can trust them. Tracking and maintaining zero is probably their strongest quality.

Keep it aside, one day that rifle and scope combo will be worth big money, remember the days of 30 buck Mausers

My K-8 spent years on a 722 .222, killed a bunch of crows in my misspent youth.

I have a K-12 that I use for load development, works well for that.
If you want a ball park selling price, I suggest ebay.
