When groups like PETA get hold of Biden, we can expect about anything. Putting sage grouse on the endangered list could shut down many 1000's of square miles of western range land for hunting, grazing, oil production, etc. An EO closing federal land to hunting would close 32 million acres in Idaho alone. The next 2 years are especially dangerous, until the midterm election.

Rock Chuck, I think your comment regarding using wolves to reduce hunting is right on and it may be working. The Lolo elk herd not too long ago was at 16,000 today it's down to a little over 1000 animals.

Many of them know that, but it doesn't fit their dogma, and simply refuse to let hunter driven conservation (which is still the bulk of conservation efforts around the world) interfere with their politically correct philosophy. They had an episode of 60 minutes or some similar show a few years ago about Oryx hunting in Texas. PETA was one of the guests and their spokesman said theyd rather the species go completely extinct than a single animal be hunted. Thats the mentality we're dealing with. They dont care about conservation or the animals just their own little world view

The wolves have pushed the elk lower onto private land year round but the numbers haven't changed much.

If they close Federal land to hunting, I expect there’ll be a lot of fires. Down here when the FS was killing hardwood (TSI - Timber Stand Improvement) signs started going up, “You kill the hardwood, we’ll burn the pine”
