I see a lamentation. But not a threat.

It's a national consequence for rejecting Christ.

Check out what happened shortly after Jesus said that. About 70 AD
Edit: I looked back and now see that others brought up the little 70AD sack of Jerusalem.

Good to see the fools and swine out in full force on yet another Christian thread. It's always entertaining.

Why do you see a need to separate the New and Old Testement?
Because the Old Covenant is over. New Covenant values and imperatives stand in sharp contrast to the values and imperatives of the Old Covenant. It was the New Covenant values and imperatives that influenced Western Civilization. Jesus ended the Old Covenant once and for all.

This thread is funny ........

It supposes that we are currently seeing the wrath of God because of our current level of social depravity. By saying that, we might also suppose that if we were "good" people (and do good works) we might be good enough to escape the wrath of God and be deserving enough to escape hell. There is nothing in us that can ever approach the righteousness required for that and our supposition that we can do-good ourselves into heaven is a lie from the pit.

It is only the grace of God through the cross that can save us. Many will think otherwise.

Covid is indeed a wake-up call. But nearly no one has done anything but drift deeper into braindead slumber.

That would be a hoot if it was wouldn't it be seeing as a large number of conservative christians don't take it seriously.

No, that was Paul in one of his screeds. Jesus never said that. He came to free mankind. Even the Old Testament rules freed a slave after 7 years. We are definitely paying for slavery. Thomas Jefferson predicted that the slave population would be the biggest problem this nation would have. There have never been slaves in any population that weren't eventually emancipated. Our slaves unlike other slaves in other times are still readily recognizable even more than 150 years after emancipation. And with some exceptions they hate us.

The Bible doesn't put a date on it but Jesus gave us lots of signs to look for and many of them are there to see.

the mayans placed a date on it: 2012. then it all ended. but it didn't matter to them, because they were already gone. mostly replaced by a bunch of mexicans and other central americans rushing the border to get into the us for free food.

if we just had more perfect information than what we have now we would know so much more.

I never said that.

I thought that was someone else. I apologize. Should have looked into it.

We (Americans and the world) are learning some big lessons about politics and life. We are stronger as a team than we are individually. That is the lessons I have learned in life. I can only hope that those who cheat, steal and lie do meet Satan and the folks who stole this last election pay a huge and forever price in hell. The same with the dictators and tyrants who have stolen and murdered in the name of Islam, socialism, communism and Marxism.

No one has bothered to define exactly what this "curse" is supposed to be, so I have to assume it's just the general state of things currently. At first I thought perhaps covid was meant, but honestly who could equate what basically amounts to the flu with a curse from God?

As to the general state of things, why would God need to curse us, and what would make you think that was the case? A curse is something mysterious, unexplained and unaccounted for. Can anyone honestly not see how our nations have come to this? If you are so puzzled by our current conditions that you have to blame it on God, I have very little hope for you.

”until all is fulfilled” (according to Jesus) is the remainder of the verse that you referred to. Jesus came to fulfill the law, and He did fulfill the law. To me, when Jesus said He came to fulfill the Law, He was saying God’s conditional, temporary covenant with Israel was coming to an end...the intended-from-the-beginning end. It was completed, it was concluded, it was over.
“It is finished.” Jesus’ famous last words from the cross. Jesus wasn’t finished...as His disheartened followers would soon discover. But the Law was. In His final moments, He was announcing that the covenant He came to fulfill was at last fulfilled. A New Covenant, a better covenant, a broader covenant was being established...through the shedding of His blood...between God and all who would choose to participate.

Hastings, you and I disagree on this fine theological point. And that’s OK. People disagree on politics, people disagree on the economy, people disagree on just about everything. But those disagreements in no wise diminish the subject being discussed.

True, but God's wrath is going to be poured out on the unbeliever. Believer's are saved by God's grace just as you say.

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. – Philippians 2:9-11
