I am getting ready to order a G48 on the Blue Label program and have to specify base sights or factory night sights. My question is are the aftermarket sights worth the extra $60? I know a lot of folks on here recommend the aftermarket.

I can go from base to night sights from the factory for about $50. It looks like Tru Glo TFO run about $110 + tax and S&H.

Any other sights I should look at? I noticed a lot of brands don't have a tritium model for the 48.

And on an unrelated note - I picked up my Sig 365 yesterday and absolutely love it. It was worth waiting for (long story).

You can order your Glock with Ameriglo Hackathorn, orange front, night sights already on them. Much better than the Glock brand night sights.

Thanks - the dealer didn't mention that possibility, I guess I'll check back with him.

Look at the TFX pro sights. I think everyone has an opinion as to what they like so it’s an individual thing. These will be my next but just my opinion

Plenty of good Glock sights out there. I like Trijicon HDs, but I've used lots of Ameriglo options and I've won a couple of IDPA matches with Glock factory night sights.

The biggest issue for me is POI for elevation is often nowhere near POA with Glock factory sights. I've had them be off as much as 6" at 25 yards. I typically get a new Glock with the factory plastic sights, shoot it until I find the load it shoots best, then identify the POI, THEN buy night sights of the proper height.

Great point Okie. I'm buying two G48s for car guns and will try to order them with the Hackathorns. If I can't get them like that then I'll go with the basic sights and then pick a load and change out to night sights.

I have the Hackathorn sights on my G41. Love them on that gun and I shoot it well with them.

Have the Trijicon HD sights on my G19 and G17 and those work well on those guns.

Yep, I have the HDs on a couple of my Glocks, and like them about as well as the Hackathorns.

I know the guy who designed the Trijicon HD sights and tried them, but ended up going back to the standard Trijicons. I didn't care for the deeper, U shaped rear, but to each his own.

These are visible at night, line themselves up. I can shoot well with my old eyes. Wifey has these on her 9mm. She shoots better than me.

I personally like that U-shaped rear a lot.

I like Ameriglo 3 dot sights on mine. 2 green rear and orange front.

I chose the Glock factory night sights because of the price. The Ameriglo you can get factory-installed from Glock are much brighter, plus there are tons of "better" after-market options as well.

Having said all that, IMHO the Glock factory night sights are good enough. Mine are really not bright at all until the light gets REALLY low. When the light does get that low, those sighs are highly visible. For the other 99% of the time, I think most any sight will work. I grew up shooting with a black U in the back and black blade up front. To me, those work just fine for that 99% of the time. So the fact that my particular Glock brand night sights are kind of a dim grey in good light is fine with me. I can still hit with the gun. When it gets so dark that all black sights won't work, the Glock sights light up enough for me.

I traded for my G43 w/ factory night sights and am happy w/ them. If I miss a 6" target at 25 yards the fault is mine not the gun/sights. They work just as well as for a sub 2.5 seconds bill drill at 7 yards.
