Adaptive methods.

Haven't been able to get the big "wheel house" out yet, so we went medium weight portable fishing.

The shelter is new, from Eskimo. 650XD

Very nice, we like it. Tall ceiling, big inside, has a door that opens to the floor which is kind of new for hub houses. We heated it with a pair of single plate buddy heaters fed off a splitter from one 20 lb tank.

The machine is a 1954 bombardier snow coach, repowered with an early 90s TBI 305 and auto trans.

Yes we were, last Saturday. It was slow but we brought a meal home.

Do you know the lake?

A previous outing, with a smaller hub house and a tag along 4'x8' wood fired skid house.

Envious here.

Cool, we're from Badger so it's not too far for us. I've been keeping the bomber on my son inlaws land north of warroad. Easy access onto the lake.

Does one ever catch anything other that walleyes and yellow perch.

Not knocking those great eating fish, but that is all I ever see here in ice fishing pictures.

Wow, Runs-with-scissors is all grown up!

How much ice ya have up there, Dave? We're lucky to have 4-5 inches here. Lost a bunch this week. I'm out right now in the same spot as last Sunday and we've lost an inch or 2 since then.

16" last weekend. The kids are out there today with snowmobiles and Joey said 20" of ice.

20"! Damn! It's not like you're THAT much further north than I am. I just came off about 3.5" here at the northern tip of lower Michigan. Crazy how much difference there is.

Does the Lower Peninsula ever get much ice? Christmas a few years ago, I saw some ice fisherman on Cadillac or Mitchell, I don't remember. I asked my Uncle if it had been cold. He said, yeah it got down to 12* the other day. I told me we canceled church because it was 25 below zero and 30mph winds. When I check the Michigan forums on Iceshanty, seems like those guys always complain about the ice.

Ps. Awesome pictures. I'm not a hub guy because I move a lot because I mostly fish panfish. But hubs have some great features. I hope you love it.

Last couple of years have been weird for ice. I'm fishing right now on my neighborhood lake, which is located about 6-8 miles straight south of the Mackinac Bridge. Normally this time of year there'd be vehicles on it, but right now there's only 6 inches of ice.

I should have been clear. My folks are from Cadillac area. I've been there many times but not the last couple years because my dad died in 2019 and Covid this year.

In 2019 I did fish Au Gres and catch a ton of walleye.
