Its a shame.

😭😭😭

I can’t quite tell what is even going on there but what a shame!

If you can land a 1890 deluxe I say go for it and never look back... but I’d pass on that one too unless it was priced very reasonable.

If you’ve decided to pass on it, do you mind telling what the asking price was?

I love these little rifles:

I have wanted one for awhile, and I believe this one was quite cheap if it was even halfway decent.. They added a finger hold onto the pistol grip with some kind of putty or something. It was hard and seemed pretty solid on there. They didn't even try on fore grip... like a block of wood with some honking stainless bolts and it was very loose. And then a monstrosity for the rear sight. Oh, and it was 22 Long... Asking $349. Everything else looked correct and in decent condition.

I wonder if someone with some chemistry knowledge could decipher what the material is and figure out if there is some sort of counter active/dissolving/softening agent for the material that could seperate it from the wood... was it on both sides or just the one?
I suppose the rear sight and pump slide could be replaced easy enough.

I’m guessing that rear sight is attached via extra (non-factory) screws and corresponding (non-factory) holes too.

Just on one side. And iirc the rear sight was in a dovetail on the barrel.

Knowing my impulsive/compulsive self I’d have tried to work out some kinda deal with them had it been in my hands. Romantically imaging I’d be able to save it... only to later be let down haha!

It looks like the buttstock has been heavily sanded where the wrist meets the upper and lower tang.

I have to stop looking at it - it’s heart breaking!

Looks like some kind of military rear sight.

That thing has so many things wrong with it besides the butt stock and the rear sight. Naturally no collector value there! If a person were looking for a project, and could pick it up for cheap, they make great little shooters!
