Since no one has said it yet I will. The perfect .270 says .280 on the barrel😳

As much as I love my Tikkas. My tc venture in 270 is a tack driver and others have had the same experience.
Also probably 1/3 of the price as demand for TC isn’t there vs Tikka

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Fluted bolt with tan stock. I checked the stock area around the safety and it certainly could have been done better.

I agree with Dre. I have a bunch of Tikka’s now and love everyone of them. With that said the TC Venture for the money is damn hard to beat. I have had a few of them over the past few years and they have all been 1/2 moa guns with factory ammo or handloads. The only downfall has been their triggers, but I have read they fixed this with the new venture 2 models

Weatherby MK-V Ultralight.

been through the pimped custom mauser route
and you cannot achieve all up weight I prefer.

Could buy four UL for what it cost me to get
M98_1909 action alone, up to 'best' spec.
n' other shops cost much more than that...🤪

A 1950's-era JC Higgins model 50 or 51 (FN "Mauser 98") in 270 Win. Timney trigger, Bell & Carlson Medalist stock, Maybe put a 3-position safety or Buehler-style on it. I have this set up in 30-06. Love it

Winchester model 70 Extreme Weather, BACO -era

Weatherby Vanguard S2 with factory Hact trigger.

I suspect these are going to be about as easy to find as a nine twist fieldcraft (grin).

Check out the Wildcat Composites Mauser 98 stock. It's a lot nicer than the B&C and lighter. They offer 2 styles. The Mauser 98 is the nicer of the two.

They don't have good pics on their website but there are some better pics on FB. https://www.facebook.com/wildcatcomposites/

You might have to scroll down a bit to find a few pics.

One of the first rifles I ever bought was a 700 in .270 Winchester. Still have it and it has accounted for many deer. That being said I love the FW 70s, but just bought a Christensen Arms Mesa in another Campfire favorite, 6.5 CM and will be hard pressed to buy another hunting rifle not being a Christensen Arms of some model. I think they chamber the .270 Winchester.

My personal recommendation would be that if you can find an older Remington 700, I’d go that route, but prices have been going a little wacko of late. I have several R700s and I’ve never had an issue. My .270 Win is a R700 CDL, and I’ve killed more deer with it than any of my other rifles.

Failing that, and dependent on your budget, I’d say my next choice would be a Winchester M70 featherweight or super grade.

Now that the future of big green is up in the air, I might have to switch to Winchesters...

Third choice is Kimber. But again, pricey.

I’ve been burned by Ruger’s, so I can’t recommend them a bit. Accuracy is broad side of a barn at 100 yards, so buyer be ware.

Depending on budget, I'd buy a Savage because they shoot really well and have great triggers or a pair of used Win Model Classics and keep the one that shoots 130 grn Partitions best

My budget is for factory offerings, no customs. I have a tikka in 22-250 and a win featherweight in 7mm-08 already. So I am familiar with them. I like them both.

Yesterday I looked at a bergara - isn't is just a remington action? And a used winchester model 70 shadow - the shadow was obviously hunted but reasonably priced...I almost walked out with it but wanted to look around some more first, and here some more of your guys offerings.
