Just put this together today. Going to try my hand at fleshing a variety of critters but starting out with some coons I think. Then maybe a beaver, coyote or deer sometime. May mount a hinged support board just below the pvc on the 2x6. Have to see how it goes like this. Folds up and out of the way nicely though.

I've never done any fleshing work so I'll learn as I go. I sort of wanted a piece of 8" pvc to use, but the 6" seems about right for smaller stuff. Need to get some raccoons or a coyote soon to try. Will learn as I go.

If anyone has any suggestions for USA made fleshing knives, let's hear them. Going to borrow one to start but will need buy one or two. Thanks

Nice looking beam.

The one in the pic is been my goto for a lot of years until the handle cracked after moving to the desert. I bought a Weibe(sp?) from Amazon and it works well, I've made them from large files also. For Beaver I use a very sharp old draw knife.

The beam I made for in the shop

I go on extended coyote hunting trips and this one attaches to the hitch and fits in the gear box on the back of my van with a dozen stretchers so I can put up fur in the field.

Erich, That mobile setup is pretty cool. Assuming the pic shows a variety of tail splitters?

Watching youtube videos on ear splitting. Any thoughts on proper way to get lips and nose ready for tanning? Mainly just a few wall hangers and perhaps going to tan a couple for hats.

I've never split ears or lips. I've never had a fur buyer complain and I don't use the heads for my home projects. I've never had ears or lips rot on me but have forgotten to split a tail and they do rot.
