I need some inpt on a torque wrench.... from scope rings to putting the barreled action back into the stock. Would prefer something simple... suggestions?

I have a CDI -501MMH . It's a 1/4" drive inch-pound mechanical dial (looks like a ratchet). Works good,but have no idea on cost.

The Weaver wrench and others like it seem to work well for me and my hunting partners.

I’ve also got and use the Fat Wrench. Seems to work fine.

If you can find an older brownells ratchet torque driver they are good kit.

Ky221: For action screws on Rifles I use my trusty "Snap-On" inch/pounds torque wrench. These are pricey but I think well worth their cost - have had mine for 30+ years now.
For some scope mounting uses I use the Wheeler - been using this tool for 5 years now..

Fat Wrench works fine for a hobby torque wrench. Nothing wrong with spending more if you want but most don't need it.

I've been using a CDI for years. No issues but there's some pretty good systems out there for less

I have the Fat Wrench and the Vortex. The Fat Wrench works well enough, but I like the Vortex better.

Thanks for all of the replies....

I was considering the wheeler torque wrench, as it seemed to be the most cost effective solution. But it seems to have mixed reviews. People either sing it’s praises or hate it. I know my local shops have them on the bench for mounting optics in the shop for customers, but I seldom see them use it ?

i never had issues with things loosening up until I bought a wheeler torque wrench, I guess it was out of calibration from the get go. I still use it, but I always give it a little extra by hand.

Ring/base companies make their little hex/torque keys a certain size and shape for a reason.
