Chris and Loggah make it hard for a fella not to lay awake at night in a puddle of sweat, dreaming about big bears and big bores! Maybe even trips to Africa!

I figured Roy would beet me to it with a rebored rifle? Maybe he has?

"tommorow" is Today! How'd it shoot!?!

Nice follow-though Chris! I got to see a video clip of the feed, slick as all get-out!! This is really exceptional re-imagining of the 99 rotary action!

Jeff
I was only able to send 10 rounds down range, cleaning between rounds to do the break in thing. I shot a 3 round group and was not really impressed. Using hornady black that is suposed to be the go to. The scope I was using is unknown to me so I need to rectify that for the next outing. This time I will shoot some groups without cleaning and see what happens. Hopefully next weekend.

That and what did you do to solve the rotor retaining clip machining?

How was recoil?

Just been busy with my real job.

Jeff feeding is not complete as far as I am concerned, it looks slick but in slow mo there is a hick up. The round hangs up on the extractor and the cut off. Feeding/forcing it pushes the extractor over and feeds up since I do not have great parts bins caution is required.

Started 243 DL placed 284 rotor and cartridge guide, changed feeding ramp slightly and that is all. The snap ring groove required fixture and key slott cutter purchase but most importantly the riight c&c mill with someone who knows how to program it.

The new style rotor spring seems like a very hard part to find.

Problem solved, shoots like she should now. The Extractor in the 243 donor rifle was so stiff it hung up feeding and still contacted the case when the action was in battery. Straight wall case pushed to the side provides poor accuracy.
Also fixed feeding after one ruined extractor of course. She weighs 8lb 10oz with the leu[Linked Image][Linked Image]

Great bit of detective work narrowing down what was going on with the extractor Chris!! That's a new one for me, I never would have imagined the extractor could deflect the case when its was fully chambered.

Don looking forward to your project, this ammo says 250 grain pill 2200 at the muzzle +4.1 at 100 yds 0 at 200 yds -19.3 at 300. Not a real flat shooter but probably point and shoot out to 230

Looking forward to trying some 300 grain ammo if it becomes available again.

This is great. I can never kick the desire for a true big bore lever action.

Why did you go with 450BM over say a .458 Socom? Did you look at the .308 based AR cartridges? Just trying to learn for a possible project. I imagine factory ammo was a consideration?

CTW did alot of thinking on this, but I'm sure rim diameter was a critical issue for reliable 99 extraction
