I use a stripper clip or just rubber band 3 or 5 together.

I used to use a federal plastic sleeve that I cut in half with a big rubber band around it. Then I bought an Allen ammo wallet. The elastic loops got stretched pretty quickly. Bought a Triple K leather wallet and have been using it for about 10 years. It will probably do the job till I get too old to hunt.

Small zip-lock baggie. In my pants or coat pocket, or in back pack.

5 rounds or so in sandwich or snack size, then I keep those in a gallon size zip lock baggie in my duffle bag ( or a plastic 20 round case of cartridges in the bigger baggie ). Just want to keep them as waterproof and dust/dirt free as possible.

When I go woodchuck hunting, I may take 20-40 rounds with me, depending where I go. Twenty round slip top cases ( MTM?) kept in gallon zip lock baggies , one 20 rounder/baggie, kept in my back pack.

Not counting woodchuck hunting, I honestly, never needed to "refill" what was originally loaded in my rifle, but it is good to have extra rounds.

A similar leather case for 45-70 and 7mm and an El Paso cartridge belt for .270, 6.5, 7.39, 7.62/.308, .44, .480 and .45-70.

I carry a nylon fold over case with only 4 or 5 extra shells, I don't fill it. Because it's usually one and done. I do carry one in my right front pocket loose and that's all I carry in that pocket. With 4 in the gun one in my pocket 5 in shell holder so I carry 10 total.

I ordered one in orange after seeing this. I like it being easy to see if it gets set down in the leaves, and I needed something for the 30-30 single shot I'm setting up for my son.

To me the orange is more of a red.

Or least it is next to blaze orange vest. 😂🤣.

No matter either way. It sticks out if dropped.

Well, my niece got my H&R Trapper 44mag after she killed a deer with it. She asked about carrying ammo, since it's a single shot. I'm giving her a cheapie camo one that I've already wasted too many minutes of my life searching for after setting it down. She's got young eyes, she'll find it in half the time.

With my Steyrs I carry an extra mag in my pack. With my Shilohs I carry extra rounds loose in my pocket

Until you have to peel it open.

In my experience the loud boom immediately preceding, tends to cover the screech of the Velcro.

Either in my pocket or in a belt carrier. Word of caution. Make sure that the cartridges are held snuggly. I’ve learned what works and what doesn’t the hard way. Nothing like chasing bear hounds for a mile on foot and finding out you lost your spare rounds somewhere along the way in the bush.

I wondered if you'd note that it's not exactly blaze orange.
But it's not dark camo either so we've got that going for us.

I was impressed with the Cole-Tac when it arrived today. Clean stitching, not a lot of loose or frayed threads.

I'll be buying a few more.

I carry mine in a spare Magazine...yet another reason why every bolt gun I own has detachable mags, with all but one being of the AICS variety.
