Back in my acquiring days, I always wanted a Les Baer Premier II.

Rudegear SR1911 suits me fine. SS slide, alloy frame. 4.25" barrel and a decent trigger.

I bought one of those new from a gun store in the early 1980s. I sold it in the late 1980s to fund the purchase of a Browning High Power. Should have kept it. Mine had a golden Colt medallion in both stocks.

Lot to be said for a "plain Colt Series 70", just a plain ol' working gun.

You just cast doubt on any future opinion you post.
Do you actually think the military has used an unreliable
handgun desugn for the last 109 years?

Changing from it was about improved technology,
Not getting a gun that worked.

I picked that up brand new for $749 and intended to send it off for custom work. Then, I shot it. Decided just to leave it alone! It’s my favorite pistol.

The two that I built with early Springfield Armory frames and slides. One is a Gov't Model with a Nowlin bull barrel (bushing-less) that was my duty pistol while I was on Patrol, and the other is an Officer's Model frame with a Commander length slide & barrel, also bushing-less that I carried for my last nine years working undercover. Both are in my gun safe, ready to go.

Interested for sure, to see what makes a firearm somebody's "favorite". For some it's a tool, others it's a keepsake and many, it's jewellery.

Smith and Wesson 686 is my favorite 1911.

If I need more rounds my 1911 will come from Austria.

I came this// close to buying this too. They are one of the best lookers with the grips, snake scale scallops, attention to detail. The bob tail makes alot of sense and the Scandium alloy is supposed to be closer to steel than to aluminum for durability.
Did you know that S&W gives that frame a lifetime warranty?
